Does anyone know anything about this MP3, it looks very cool. I have a Nomad II that I have had for the last couple years and I am looking to upgrade. This looks like it is an awesome MP3 player. Is it not very sexxy looking? The options look amazing.
Did anyone hear anything about this MP3?

I'd get a 10GB ipod.

No expen$ive flash memory to buy, has lithium-polymer rechargeable battery, firewire, you can store all types of files on it... 128 or 256MB of music is just not enough.

Yes, can't beat that if you need that kind of capacity. However the iPod, as opposed to MP3 players that use flash memory, utilizes moving parts which can be sensitive to vibration.

For an MP3 player, I'll always go with solid state flash memory.

I use an old Sensory Science MP 2200 which I upgraded to 128MB of memory which is more than I have ever needed.

Oh, I should have clarified, I use my MP3 for running, so I needed a nonmovable part MP3 player and I was looking for something small.

The Rio S50 is cool but I felt that it lacked some options, like the FM and recording from FM,- ITAKE THAT BACK I JUST SAW THAT THE RIO s50 Does have an integrated FM PLAYER - VERY COOL PLAYER - GONNA HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT!!

RIO S50 - box contents NIHM battary? - This is a rechargeable unit also? THis unit is getting better and better

That is one thing that I am going to miss with my Nomad II, the recharging docking station- It was so easy I just plopped the MP3 in it and it recharges and I am able to transfer my MP3s a the same time. They should make this recharge units a standard for MP3 players, just like cell phones.- BUT MAYBE NOT IF I GET THE RIO s50

The cheapest I found the RIO S50 for was $160 shipped. The IRiver is $140 on Bestbuy.com.

So far the major advantage of the S50 is the rechargable unit. 128 MB is more than enough for me, so I will not be upgrading. I think the IRIVER is so more cool looking than the RIO S50. I am not sure. I cant really find any review on the RIO S50 but I found some on CNET for the IRIVER and they are raving about it. Considering how well IRIVER did with its CD/MP3 SLimX I might have to go with the IRIVER -I wish it had a recharge of the battery option unit. But I think I will hold off for a little while more just in case any new info on the units comes to light.

Also they said that the file transfer is very fast on the IRIVER and that was a major concern considering that I have seen a lot of reviews for other small MP3s like the Yepp saying that file transfer was very slow. The Yepp is very cool for its price but the file transfer slowdown scares me.

I dont think RIO S50 will have this file transfer problem based in RIO's other MP3 players but I think I want to wait for some reviews.

anyways, does anyone know when the iriver slim-x imp-400 will come out in usa? that's what i'm looking for
it's so sweet! link

That iRiver player does look cool. I guess it comes with 128 MB of memory, though the specs I saw on the link looked contradictory (64 vs 128).

In particular, I wonder how the FM sounds, cause my Sensory Science MP2200 never got decent reception.

I'd be interested in hearing from people who own one.

Oh, crap - good point Slogan - It says 64 MB and than 128 in the specs. I only posted that site because it had 4 cool pictures of the player. BESTBUY has the 128mb, 64mb, and 32mb, version. But the smaller versions dont have FM.
I have feeling it is the 128 version and they just messed up- ACTUALLY I am not sure now because they should have put FM radio in that small description at the top.

I have the Yepp YP-700 and it's pretty sweet. It takes a couple of minutes to transfer a full ripped CD (234 kbps) but it's no big deal. I haven't tried the radio though so I can't comment on it (you might check Amazon).

Wow the Yepp Yp-700 is a very nice looking player. I did not notice it when I was searching around. It is jam packed with goodies. It is also rechargable. Definitely a sweet player. Not as sexxy looking as the IRIVER 180T but I think that remote and the cool external battary pack makes up for that. Definitely a cool state of the art player. I think that this is cooler looking than the RIo s50. I think the Yepp Yp-700 beats out the Rio S50 because it is rechargeable, it has the cool remote, it has the extra external battery unit and it is a tad cheaper.
I might have to jump on this Yepp Yp-700. However, I am still so attracted to the IRIVER 180T, and IRIVERs track record on producing excellent products.

Hmmm, the pool of Mp3 units to choose from just grew. What will it be?
