in my crock pot. It will be in there for 10 hours on low and will be my lunch tomorrow.

I threw some potatoes, onions, carrots and crimini mushrooms in first with some salt, pepper, some Italian seasoning and 2 minced cloves of garlic. I added 2 cups of water.

I then added my 4 lb blade roast. They called it outside blade, not sure if that is top or bottom. Either way it's a nice lean roast.

I stuck sliced cloves of garlic into the roast and then a sprinkling of minced garlic all over it. I added some salt, pepper to the roast and a bit of horseradish mustard.

It is sitting on low for the next 10 hours. I can hardly wait.

this roast is very lean. 10 hrs makes it very tender but still has shape. Trust me, i have done this before.

I will post pics when done.

Did you sear it in a pan prior to putting it in the crockpot? I don't like meats cooked in one if they aren't pan seared first to give them some brown.

sorry dude.

I got called into work this morning. I got home around 6:30 PM.

will post pics soon.

This was my first time experimenting with this, so please excuse my clumsiness in presenting this roast. It tastes way better than it looks. I ended up spreading the horseradish mustard better after the photo was taken. This was right out of the crock pot.

I haven't had a pot roast in years.
I've got a very nice crock pot as well.
Just can't afford meat products.

Haven't had pot roast in a very long time. Will have to make one. Have you tried substituting some of the water with dry wine. Gives it a nice flavour. White vermouth works pretty well too.

I am not into wine at all. It doesn't agree with me at all.

whaa? i swear buying the potatoes/carrots/onions cost as much as the pot roast itself.

I made post roast saturday. it was great.

Can't afford meat products? Beef for pot roast is often cheaper than vegetables or fruit.

Obviously you have never shopped for anything before.
Ask your woman to let you come along next time.

Meat $3+/lb

Veggies/fruits/grains ~$0.5/lb

i think your numbers off. but fuck it really don't matter. So saying you can't afford $12 for a chunk of meat that will feed 4 for 2 days? no?

the turn off the fucking internet. you really can't afford it.

12$ can get me 50lbs of food.

I don't pay for the internet.
Or any utilities for that matter.

I have yet to see $0.5/lb tomatoes, kale, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, mushrooms. Most things you're going to pay $1-3 /lb which is similar to chicken, pork, or beef. You can find $1/lb chicken, $2/lb pork, and $3/lb beef pretty easily. If you can't afford $1 chicken, then you need to unretire and get a job.

I can get tomato puree/pulp under $1/lb but rarely use them.
Kale? Mushrooms? Blueberries? Blech...

I can get frozen strawberries for $1/lb but rarely use them.
Nothing against blackberries, I can get them free.

Sure you can get filthy whole chicken/turkey for $1/lb when it's the season...but that's a huge PITA and really only half at best is edible. Bones and skin and shit doesn't count. Very little nutritional value in meat anyway, so I'll stick with cheaper healthier options.

Doesn't mean I'll turn down a free pot roast or turkey dinner though. I do kinda want a pot roast now.

If you arent using the bones/skin and fat in a broth for a stew or soup, then you are doing a whole chicken wrong.
