And yet the (D)'s - who have been in office for 18 months and have the slightest possible majority (almost a split) - are being blamed for the failures of Congress.

I don't think most people blame Bush for 9/11. He may have some responsibility but IMO it's definitely not all his fault. The war in Iraq is another story.

I am not proud of America at all... because of how its been past 8 years, a total disaster. Those who attack Michelle Obama are idiots about that we need to be patriotic, how can we be patriotic and love out country if the leaders treat it and us like crap....

Those people who only care about them selves and only try to make money for them selves are patriotic? (this is according to McCain supporters) This is such non sense, discrace.

If McCain gets elected, we will be in the same spot as before. You know a lot of McCain supporters know that, they just don't care because they are scared of Obama...

Why has McCain changed so much since 2000, because the corrupted Republican party. Everytime I watch McCain speak, he keeps going on with lies and lies and you know what I think, it is not him but his republican friends and those who wrote the speeches for him. They are totally controlling him, if he wasn't, he would not have changed from 2000. I won't admit Democrats are perfect, but far much better than the Republicans and safer.

(He keeps going on that middle class would have increased taxes (lie), he says obama gainst nuclear energy (lie), he says obama against inovation and electric cars (super lie) - obama wants to invest 150 billion dollars.)

It is just so sad, beyond sad what has happened to this country.

And you think Obama is the savior? That he will "bring America back to its former glory"? Give me a fuckin break! :disgust:

Really? It took only 1/3rd of that to move troops into Afghanistan. Unfortunately, you seem to not be addressing the points Red clearly understands which is that the Bush administration at its highest levels received PLENTY of warning before 911 that something major was coming down. A key figurehead who had a particular disinterest in addressing the concerns that were being brought to her was Condi Rice.

Michael Scheuer who ran the Bin Laden station at CIA said Clinton could have had OBL 8 - 10 times and never acted. Clinton was trailer trash who was more interested using resources against political foes at home than any threats abroad (unless they could make a good cruise missle target during some investigation and then he would light them up).

"Bin Laden is alive today because Mr. Clinton, Mr. Sandy Berger, and Mr. Richard Clarke refused to kill him. That's the bottom line. And every time he says what he said to Chris Wallace on Fox, he defames the CIA especially, and the men and women who risk their lives to give his administration repeated chances to kill bin Laden."

Actually Michael Scheuer was very critical of Bush on Iraq (wrote Imperial Hubris). All the baby boomer presidents have been busts.

Yeah it was Clinton's fault that Bush ignored those who warned him of the possibility of an attack of the magnitude of 9-11.

Bush was only in office for 9 months on September 2001, and 3 of those months were spent cleaning up the mess the Clinton's left behind (e.g. vandalism at the white house, uncooperative bureaucrats, fallout from the election controversy, etc). 6 months was not enough time to undo the damage Clinton did to our intelligence gathering ability put in place to hide his own corrupt dealings.

Oh you mean that vandalism at the White House that didn't exist? Yeah, that make believe vandalism sounds awful. I'm not even sure what 'uncooperative bureaucrats' means, but are you implying that it was somehow more then normal? And how is the election controversy the Clintons' fault again? (more importantly, why would it be an excuse?)

All that aside you are trying to ignore the issue which was that Bush's administration ignored warnings that the intel community gave them. If it was so broken, why was it (correctly) warning them ahead of time, and what sort of 'fixes' would Bush have implemented that would have changed things? Would they have given him two warnings to ignore instead of just one?

EDIT: fixed quotes

A cult of personality dosent understand such things. As much as RP supporters are charged with such things, they are issue drivin to the core.

(CNN)?Barack Obama blamed the 'conservative press' Wednesday for negative attacks on his wife Michelle.

?What happened was that the conservative press?Fox News and the National Review and columnists of every ilk?went fairly deliberately at her in a pretty systematic way,? Obama told Glamour Magazine.

I watch quite a bit of news. I haven't seen anyone even bring up Michells Obama in a while.

But lately, I see a lot of Obama himself bringing her in the news by complaining about critism I don't see?

I saw this discussed again last night and the talking heads said something about a article in a magazine, and there is one political ad featuring her "proud of America" remark. However, that ad only plays in one state (Washington).

This all seems manufactured to me. Pre-emptive complaining. I find it deceptive, and a form of negative campaigning too. It also reeks of feigned victimhood.

If you don't want your wife in the news, stop bringing her up in the news.

It's a lot easier for her to shoot her mouth off and him to declare that she is off limits.

ever think that u might be a overly optimistic, easily disappointed, basically unhappy kind of guy? these are politicians we are talking about, after all... ;p

I was happy in the 90's... they were great times.. under clinton administration, he didn't go to useless wars. We need a democratic president that won't attack a country just because he feels like....

Black Hawk Down?

Do you mean when President George H. W. Bush responded with Operation Restore Hope in December, 1992, when the vast majority of total personnel strength in Somalia was provided by the United States (some 25,000 out of a total of 37,000 personnel) ???

The Battle of Mogadishu was in early October, 1993.

This is the type of revisionist history we may expect from the Bush-iters on everthing from 9-11 to the illegal occupation of Iraq to illegal domestic wiretapping to torture and extraordinary rendition to .....

hmmm...

Bush sent in marines as a protection force for humanitarian groups, and UN personal

Clinton authorized the use of Army Rangers and Delta Force, to go after Aidid. Then he pansied out when 18 of them were killed.

Apparently it was important enough for them to go over there but when the going got tough, just bring all home. Let them all die in vain.

what a waste.

Listen to me man, listen. NO man who lives up to your ideals, from now until the end of the USA or an actual revolution, will be elected president . Hate to break it to you, won't happen. Its unfortunate, but those are the breaks. The majority of the American people have proven themselves to be disinterested in honesty.

Also, I'd reconsider the loyalty bit. Loyal to whom?
