There was a poll done by Newsweek that stated only about 17% of people blame Bush directly for the federal reponse to Katrina. Why then, all the wrath directed at Bush? Simple -- leadership (and the lack of it). People were incensed at where the President's attention was focused, and where it wasn't. They were also quite incensed in the alternate reality that Bush and FEMA officials seemed to live in for days afterwards.

It may not be fair, but it was sure earned. I'm still trying to figure out who in their media/press poll thought it would be a good idea to photograph the President inside of Air Force One peering down at NO and the hurricane damage. I hope they sent this person packing right after Brown!

Regardless, I'm not proud. I'm not proud of anybody who had a hand in this mess. Now, I will be proud, if at some time in the future the Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans come back better than ever. But given the amount of time that's going to take, and given the President's past rhetoric on other 'feel-good' type programs, I sincerely doubt he has the necessary leadership skills to accomplish the task.

I don't know if I'm proud of Bush, but it was cool when he said that our Government, on all levels including Federal, failed the country in regards to disaster relief in NO. John Stewarts bit was hilarious. Speaking of which, I've been following Evolution Schmevolution week as much as possible... great stuff.

Hmm, that's exactly what Bush hopes to accomplish. Finally, someone has spelled out his real plan!

keep talking, I guess someday you will make sense

At least he posts more than a thumbs up and "STFU liberals". Clown.

Screw Bush. I could do a better job. So could probably thirty percent of the nation if they actually applied themselves. And you don't even need to shove a silver spoon up my butt.

I am kind of proud of Bush's comments...

That said, has this place turned into a mini-Freerepublic lately? I swear, there are more and more people just generally bitching about liberals whenever the slightest opportunity presents itself. We have enough of that already, thanks.

Give me a break. Do I really need to C&P the current "liberal" threads vs. the "freeper" threads in this forum right now to create a comparison. The impression seems to be that if there are 3 recent threads that don't bash Bush and only 25 that do, that the place is turning into Freeperville. Don't be ridiculous. This place is far more often a mini-KOS or DU Lite than anything close to Freep.

There's a difference between having someone capable and having the best-run campaign. Shrum is 0-for-infinity in running campaigns. Cahill was equally as feckless. The Swifboat liars cut him down and the MSM gave them a free pass to do so and by the time Kerry fired back, it was too late.

I still wish McCain had one the nomination in 2000.

Yeah, can't we get rid of the liberal-hating and get back to the good 'ol days when the members of this administration were judged solely on their actions, and nothing more?

Seriously Rains, this new crew of "stupid liberals"-spouting posters are about as useless as tits on .. well.. me. But to suggest that they even come close to the anti-Bush, anti-Republican, anti-Christian, anti-Rich, anti-Corporation, etc spewage ever-prevalent here is quite the stretch.

Methinks you're trying to build a house of cards in a 70mph wind and complaining about someone breathing too heavily.

Why exactly would you want McCain in charge of the country when his claim to fame is a complete failure of a compaign finance reform bill? The guy actually made campaign finance abuse WORSE.. If McCain was President he would probably start bombing parts of Florida because he thought that would make the damage appear less in NOLA.

How many times does the country need to say no to McCain before you people get the hint? He's not going to become President, and thank god for that!

Yeah we are better off with a seemingly disinterseted Oil Tycoon Wannabe that has shown little leadership ability in time of crises.

While I may have lost a great deal of respect for the man in recent years, he's still got 10x more than I have for GWB.

I don't really put much weight in Bush's speech. What really matters is what hes going to do in the future - and judging from his past speeches he doesn't have a good track record with following through.

Yeah, give the poor guy a break. Being president is HARD WORK!

he's taken the most vacation days of any president, god I wish I could have his job!

You could have his job if you could do his job!

If only it were that easy. I don't have the money to run for President, nor do I have the name to get me into politics. Now, if there were changes made so that commoners like me or Joe Blow on the street could actually have a shot at the Presidency, the powers that be should be shaking in their boots.

I'm really curious what exactly someone could be proud of this president for?

Illegal war? nope.
Almost 2000 soldiers/Marines dead in Middle East quagmire? nope.
Stonewalling the 9/11 Commission? nope.
Finding and firing the admin hack that outed Valerie Plame? nope.
Responding to the Katrina disaster in a timely manner? nope.
Ignoring a PDB entitled "Bin Laden determined to attack U.S."? nope.
Complimenting M.Brown "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job" while people die of starvation and dehydration in New Orleans? nope.
Creating the largest deficit in our country's history? nope.
Taking more vacation time than any President in our country's history? nope.
Finding the terrorist that mailed anthrax to our Congress? nope.
Capturing Osama Bin Laden? NOPE.

I guess I just don't understand. WHAT exactly is there to be proud of? A speech that should have been made 3 weeks ago, but he was too busy pandering to his base in Arizona?

Im proud him for all the stress he causes all the pansy ass liberals.

As for the vacation day thing, meh. Carter took less than any other president and we all know how ineffective and worthless that POS was.

Nice first post btw, great sig too. You'd almost think you were invited here by one of the nut jobs from salon or an elite's alt.

Yeah he was about as ineffective as Bush has been! Luckily for us Reagan came along afterwards. We can only hope another strong and decisive Leader will emerge after the bumbling Dub leaves the office.
