A bit of trivia-Neil Young played guitar in a Detroit band that Rick James was leader of. The band was posed on signing a record contract and breaking out when James was busted for deserting from the military (this was back in the mid to late 60's).

Neil Young then drifted out to California, ultimately signed up with the Buffalo Springfield.
