That was me in the jeep, Siva kept shooting me in the head and I couldn't see where I was going, I flipped off the ramp, did a few 360's in midair, and couldn't steer. Before I knew it, the jeep was on top of your car. I tried to get it down, but it scratched up the side on the way down.

I will pay for any expenses incurred. Send the bill to:

<< My husband and I finally were able in August, to afford a newer car. It's a 1996 Ford Taurus, and I love it. We have had nothing but pieces of junk for years, and it was such a good feeling to finally have something nice looking to drive around in. Well, get up this morning, and somebody hit it! Scratched up the entire drivers side, and put a big dent in the back over the wheel. Better yet, its a hit and run. They hit our car, and never even stopped to say anything. So now we have to file a police report, and go through our insurance to get it fixed. I love the way some people are..... >>

sorry to hear that

GF,
I don't know how it is in NY, but here in CA it is a good idea to get uninsured motorist insurance. (UIMI) (I don't know if it is only offered here)
The thing is, if you have UIMI and are involved in a hit and run, you don't have to pay the deductible. (Anyone correct me if I am wrong but this is what my insurance agent tells me) If you happen to have UIMI, that is the way to go.
I got hit-and-run and did not have UIMI and had to bite the bullet on the deductible. My agent told me that if I had UIMI, I wouldn't have had to pay anything. I have insisted on having it since. Like I said though, I don't know if it is offered anywhere but here.
Not that it helps you now, but if you don't have it, look into it. I think it costs me all of $4 a month extra to add it to my insurance and you also don't have to worry about that person driving around w/o insurance. The insurance co. pays the deductible and everything if you have it.
Also, I know it stinks to have a car wrecked (I have been in more than 10) but just be glad you weren't in it to be hurt (no amount of insurance makes up for bad injuries). So at least you have got that going for you...

Iamfried: Actually, we have to have uninsured motorist insurance here, its required. But it does not cover that, so you are lucky in that sense. And yeah, I have been in a couple of car accidents myself, one even ended up giving me a broken collarbone, so I am happy I was not in it this time.

Everyone else, thanks for all the suggestions. And to whoever suggested it, the police did take a sample of the paint. They are going to check the local high school down the street from me, since they believe it was a teenager on his way there that did it.

Pretender: I don't have a problem believing that, with the way you two drive! :Q

In most states uninsured motorist coverage is a replacement for the other driver's (lack of) liability insurance coverage for injuries-it does not cover any property damage. The insurers want you to buy comprehensive coverage to protect your car in these situations.

GF: That really sucks. Back in the eighties I lived in a large midwestern city and suffered a number of small hit and runs. I remember reading an article in the local paper that said 80% of the property damage only accidents were hit and runs. Its disgusting.
