This is not my first rodeo... I thought about this purchase but the gigabyte 4090 OC, was reviewed well. But that does not show long term use.

I have had issues (one eventually fixed by a motherboard update) with Gigabyte motherboards over past 10+ years, but also issues with one from Asus and MSI. I currently have newer junk from MSI, several from Asus, and Asrock running...

My junk and limited number and experience does not reflect any kind of failure rate... I would say I'm most concerned about gigabyte with motherboards, but never had a GPU problem yet with them. This piece of new junk seems to be working very well and cool. If it fails, I will buy more junk of some other-kind of junk brand 😜

Double post... But, the Gigabyte 4090 OC if you register in time comes with another year of warranty.

If I have issues, believe me, I will post about them in a few years!!! So far so good!

All these companies are building around their warranty. They want their junk to die then!

I am working on a evga 3080ti fan failure now. Too afraid to send it in as it is a good card besides one of the 3 fans. Fans die, and I fear more sending good silly-cone into a company getting out of the Video-junk business.....

EVGA is very good about their warranty service so I wouldn't hesitate to send it in. I wish that my 4090 said EVGA on it.

PNY being worse than FE and Zotac, do you have experience with them?

yes.
If you ask me, they are honestly much larger then ASUS + MSI + Gigabyte when it comes to GPU.
They do a lot of OEM's for Enterprise as well. So when they are responsible for Enterprise, they typically have very stable cards, but there heat sink department is not your typical gamer focused. Also again, the heatsinks under most situations were thought and planned out in a enterprise setting where you got screaming fans blowing air at them, or very well controlled ambient.

Zotac i only rank them low, because as i said, they do a really poor job at assembly from what i have had so far. Missing a pad here and there and using really cheap thermal paste.
If you want to take the effort into a zotac card refurb, they are very good cards, but not my first pick.

If i wanted the best of the best, again, its ASUS STRIX, as i said they sometimes go beyond what eVGA FTW3 series has. But
RMA department will leave you pulling your hairs out.

Also, FE cards are made by PNY, right?

I think they are... OR they used to be, im not 100% sure.
But PNY won't sell the FE cooler cards, otherwise i would of ranked them = with OEM nvidia.

EVGA is very good about their warranty service so I wouldn't hesitate to send it in. I wish that my 4090 said EVGA on it.

They were, but lately im hearing they are rejecting RMA's as they have almost completely closed up shop on their gpu department.
But i think for a fan replacement, they would probably just mail him the fans and have him do his own repair then having him send in the gpu.
Or i would at least request a DIY fan replacement, as eVGA had the best warranty when it came to heat sink removal.

PNY being worse than FE and Zotac, do you have experience with them? Their Revel card user reviews seemed to paint a good picture of their cooling effectiveness. That's why I got a PNY Revel 3080 10GB on sale. But when I went to sell it due to losing confidence in the low VRAM, the shopkeepers treated it like a junk brand. I sold it at HALF the price I got it for and it was NIB.

Also, FE cards are made by PNY, right?

PNY is solid in terms of reliability and warranty. The cards are nothing special and are strictly reference designs with no frills, but they have no major issues either. They go for the same price on ebay as anything else and make a lot of OEM cards for Dell/HP and all of the Quadro cards. The coolers are acceptable but nothing amazing, but all the 4090 coolers are way overbuilt anyway and it's more than enough for those cards. They are an American company (which may be better for warranty/support, not sure) but seem to be owned by someone else, as Palit and several other brands seem to sell the exact same cards under different names in other countries.

EVGA had great support but seemed to have a lot of issues in the last few generations. I would rather not have problems to begin with than deal with support.

The AIO cards may be more prone to issues down the line, not sure how it will work out as the fluid cannot be replaced by the user. I don't see any actual reports of more issues with them (as opposed to hearsay) than the air cards. The MSI Liquid card has the same PCB as their air-cooled Suprim, so I figured I could just stick that cooler on it if needed several years down the line.
