Yes, specifically from eating the nervous tissue. And the stuff that causes the disease cannot be 'cooked out'. Cannibalistic tribes have histories of this disease, each with their own names generally.

Guess its a little failsafe mother nature built in to keep individual species from turning on itself.

There's also the human equivalent to Mad Cow and Chronic Wasting Diseases called Creutzfeldt?Jakob disease. I would only assume that it could be contracted via consumption of infected human nerve tissue.

I meant you are human, you are already vulnerable to human deceases. The alarming thing about mad cow was the species jumping aspect. Simple solution is to not use neural tissues as feed.
