1. subjective...I and many others generally don't think so....but you generally get what you pay for...true of most things in this world
2. Yes, and you can run XP/Vista on a Mac, what's your point? Plus, you lose a lot by running Leopard on anything other than an Apple.
3. Um.....see number 2. Macbook Pro is the fastest laptop to run Windows XP and Vista...according to several round-ups, including PC World (iirc), but everyone knows this already. Also, WoW and many other games are out for OS X with more coming. For those that aren't, it's easy to boot into XP if you wanted to.
4. It's like a really nice pair of shoes, you had no idea what you were missing until you got it. I thought magsafe was a gimmick until I got a macbook pro, now I actually think it's a great idea, and wonder why it took so long for someone to do it.

BTW, while I'm on the topic of having no idea what I was missing, I LOVE the fact that now a two-finger click is a right click on the mac. I can't tell you how many times I keep trying to do it on my dell work laptop by accident.

So why all the mac hating now? Just a couple years ago ATOTers were praising macs, now that they're not as much of an underdog, no more praise? It's not like the computers or OS have gotten worse, they've actually gotten better.

I'm not going to step into the fray on 1-3, but #4:

Magsafe is an incredible idea, and it's a shame for all the other manufacturers that patents take 20 years to expire. I think Macs, including both the hardware and the software, are great computers, closer than anything else on the market to what a computer should be. It's just the management and fan club that I can't stand. "We make/use Macs, and are thus superior to everyone else."

Disclaimer: I built my own desktop running Vista Ultimate x64, and use a Lenovo X61 running Vista Business x86.

WHAT??? Tell me more.

Good luck getting it to work.....

There are plenty of forums for answers to any questions (or doubts) you might have. Google it.

I have been trying for 3 nights now to get Leopard to work eithier on my q6600 or my dell d630 with multiple installations. Been using the guids on the insanely mac forums.

Interesting that they've made it seemingly so easy to install Leopard on a beige box PC. I won't be install it on my PC however primarily because I'm still tooling along on an old school P4 3.0Ghz which doesn't support SSE3. That and if I really wanted to I could get Linux looking and acting a lot like OS X, true I couldn't run the apps but there are a lot of open source apps that do a lot of the things that the Mac apps do.

The thing about the Mac or PC is that you get an OS that morons can use. Things like installing a new program are really easy and you can click through like a moron. On Linux, it can require some knowledge, research, and time. Don't get me wrong, I use and love Linux, but I do miss the ability to mindlessly do things.

Only w/ Macs would you use a color to describe the kind you got..

It's like chicks and cars.

"Oh so what kind of car do you have?"
"An Audi."
"Nice, what kind?"
"I dunno, it's a blue one."

mac fans and apple employees are enthusiastic about their product, you can hardly blame them considering the state of windows these days.

Serato, looked at Torq but Serato just seemed much more user-friendly/professional. Since I've been using can't say that I have any complaints either - although I wish there was a way to assign certain keys to make sound effects (.wav files/etc)...maybe there is and I haven't figured it out yet

I don't think your analogy quite holds up. There is only 1 black mac book. So by saying he got the black macbook, everyone knows what he is taking about. Your card analogy only works if audi only made 1 blue car.

But I bet he feels all smart & macho, having attempted to dismiss someone's purchase by comparing them to a "dumb chick." Nice sexism.

yup. a damn shame too.. sure, you get a slightly bigger HDD too, but whatever.. still paying for a color difference.
hehe...my black macbook only cost $250 total. Thanks eBay and people who don't try to figure out how to fix things.

Yea i've seen a few on there with some damages. I'm just too lazy and don't wanna take the risk of getting one and not being able to fix it.

What's the big deal? Dealerships charge a premium over some colors of paint anyhow.
Congratulations and welcome to the Apple family.
