The cost of the vehicle after rebates and everything was 17,590.

Add in taxes at 1358.88, extended warranty at 1695.00, gap insurance at $399.

Total cost: 21042.88

V6 manual, 4.0l 210hp.

*waits for anandtech to tell me I should have saved thousands on a 1995 honda civic with the maxwell house package*

I love my car. It has plenty of power despite being the V6.

Rustang!

21k isn't bad for 200+ hp...but then again, you're driving a Ford

To each their own!

Edit: Do some research on extended car warranties and I have a feeling you'll ditch it (I believe they give you 30 days to cancel and get your $ back).

You're going to get flamed for buying a V6 Mustang, especially if you're a guy. The manual option redeems you a bit, though.

The thing is bad enough on gas as it is, I'm not spending more for a V8.

What's gayer, a V6 engine OR inviting your insurance agent to bend you over and have his way with you?

I don't see why I would drop the extended warranty.

75000 miles and 72 months of bumper to bumper?

Remember, all domestics fall apart constantly and only Toyotas can drive more than 500 miles without total engine failure..........ATOT taught me that.

Who is the extended part of the warranty through?

I dunno, I figure I will make use of the warranty and even if I don't it's like maybe $20 of the car payment or something so I'm really not worried about it.

$20 a month for peace of mind that if it breaks it doesn't affect me, I'm ok with that.

A.) Read the fine print on your extended warranty.

B.) Find out what company provides the extended part of the warranty and do some satisfaction research.

C.) Please tell me you didn't spring for the "Undercarriage Protection Spray"

It's a Ford extended warranty, direct from them.

If your main concern was image, I guess the decision was made for you.

You bought a car just for its image? A V6 Mustang for its image? I would have gotten a used Pontiac GTO (400HP LS2) or a used Mustang GT for that price.

Is there any new car in production faster for that price?

As far as the image, I doubt anyone is going to screen the car for a GT badge and in absence of it tell me I'm driving a piece of ******.

Well, except for ATOT.

4.0L V6 mustang is not too bad a car, quick at 15 seconds particularly at your price. Handling is decent, has the nice rwd balance.

The only thing i did not care for was the poorly built interior, but some people don't care about that.

A 4 liter V6 only puts out 210 horses? Either that's one inefficient engine or one heavy car. The 2.7 liter in my Dodge Stratus supposedly puts out 200 horses although I'm not sure if that's taking the weight of the vehicle into consideration.

If you had to go with new then you probably got the best thing you could. Only other options would be a honda, scion, etc. (basically a budget rice rocket) If you were willing to go used there are a bunch of different options available to you and most won't lose value like a mustang. Some even go up in value.

The average person won't. Actually, I'm sorry for being mean, I read on Car and Driver's comparisons that it is actually the fastest car in that price range. Here is the article.

You got a good price for it, and it's seems to haul ass. But, I still don't trust Ford's reliability after my mom's 2000 Ford Winstar minivan.

I'm glad you bought an extended warranty. People who think they are being intelligent, by not buying the warranty, almost always get owned in the end.

The weight of the car doesn't have anything to do with the HP numbers. The quoted numbers are "at the crank".

The price difference between 75k and 100k on the warranty was pretty ridiculous, I'm hoping that when the 75K gets close to expiring they mail me something offering an extension for not as much money. Is that likely?
