My truck is 36 gallons!! lol

This isn't my DD though. We have a 2014 Corolla to commute with, and I work in the same office as my MIL. My wife actually works 2 blocks down from me. Our commute is 27 miles one way, but with 3 of us commuting in one car, I don't have to drive my truck anywhere except to do work and pull the trailer. love it!

I have nothing to tow or haul so no real need for a truck. It would be nice to have one to be able to trailer my motorcycle to a track day or the dealer if it needs work or to haul my mountain bike to the trails but none of that really justifies the expense of having a 3rd vehicle. I have a trailer hitch installed on my Camry so I can carry 3 bicycles on it with that.

I've got the 2009 F150 STX Reg Cab with 18" Alloys, nerf bars, sync, bed liner, tow package, trailer brake controls, 26 gallon tank....but it has the 250hp 4.6L in it. Honestly, when doing light hauling, it's great and it gets over 18mpg on the highway. It has enough hp to pull my pontoon boat, but it's usually on the lift...

I got a deal on my truck last year. A super crew would have been about twice as much. I would have gained a back seat but lost a foot off the box. I decided to buy a truck and hold out a year or two for a sedan or van.

Someone who commutes 70 miles to work is lecturing people on their consumption habits? Hilarious.

I live 7 miles from work and drive a Volt. I guess I can be all smug now too and chastise you for driving 70 miles to work? Good job ruining the planet! Consume! Consume!

How small does your dick have to be to go on a forum and attack someone for buying a vehicle you don't like to make yourself feel better about yourself? You should pay for a therapist, you need one.

He was obviously joking and his post was in good fun. No one was actually picking on anyone until you came along.

Kind of like how you're attacking me right now? :whiste:

And FTR my comments in this thread have not been inflammatory. Just a little lighthearted fun but I haven't condemned anyone for buying a truck. Go read my comments again douchebag.

Yeah, I will call out a hypocrite when I see one. Your reputation on this forum is well known when it comes to trucks so don't try and hide it.

Let it go little boy. You're just making yourself look stupid.

Let what go? Every time there is a truck topic you come in with your "you don't need that" superiority - it's gone on for years. After all this time, you're still doing it - why don't you let it go? Seems like you have the problem, little girl.

Really? And just where did you source your Class III hitch for your S8 to pull that 4500# boat? All I can find anywhere is a Class I, rated at 1500#, so either you're joshing or you are one damned dangerous driver and no one should have to share the road with you.....overloading a hitch 3X and overloading a car with no tow rating whatsoever, but only a 1200# load capacity.

Yeah the ones sold in the US are garbage and I completely agree that 5K lbs on a class 1 hitch would be dangerous and monumentally irresponsible.

I actually ordered a EU spec approved (2500Kg GTW) hitch from the UK, car is rated for 2300Kg.

Jeezus Christ shut the "deleted" up already, no one cares about your self-righteous indignation.

I'm pretty sure no one cares especially us F-150 owners.

There's a strong amount of insecurity going around when someone points out how odd south's masculinity/truck cultural thing is...

For the record, the issue not consumption habits (my own car gets worse gas milage than 1/2 ton truck), but rather than men in the south are for some reason compelled to buy trucks as a main vehicle while having literally zero use case for owning a thing with an open bed. This goes x10 for supercab/crew cab owners *, it's as it you half-realized you have no use for a truck, but still can't help yourself. I just find it fascinating.

* obviously the exception being people that actually run work crews

On a side note, Uhaul rents f150s down the street for 20 bucks a day; home depot rents F350 if you gotta pull something really substantial.

Funny you should mention that, I got all the parts back from the powdercoater last week and started putting it all back together:

Looks good man! I forget, is it a Monster? Definitely a 4-valve motor I can see that.

I bought tapered steering head bearings for my bike... just need to find the time to pull the front end off it and install them.

I'll post pics when I get around to doing that. You should update your thread and keep posting updates. I'd like to see that.

Especially considering us F150 owners can tow his car and his boat at the same time.

I'm not insecure about my driving habits. I grew up driving and learned to drive on a pickup. It had a 200hp I6 and a 4spd. I don't feel comfortable in cars, never have. I also like that I can occasionally buy something larger than a car can fit, and not have to spend any extra money to bring it home.

Oh, and I'm going home for Christmas and bringing back my W/D from my old house down there. Nice to only have to pay for gas, not gas + rental and mileage for 5 days.

Considering your vehicle choice, you have zero room to judge others on how they use theirs or why they bought them.

So the only reason one should need a truck is if they run a work crew otherwise if they need one they should only buy a regular cab truck or rent one.

The reality is that yes... You see me driving down the road in my Super Crew F-150 all by myself. It has leather, AC in the seats... It is nice. Nicer than I even wanted but yay for bundling. Every now and then I put four customers in it with me and we go to lunch. Hell I even put my family in it including my four year old....Which is a real bitch to do with a reg cab or extended cab... hence the crew cab. What you don't see is the 8000# trailer we own. My truck gets used as a truck multiple times a month. The ability to stuff the family in there or customers is a bonus. I can't justify buying a third vehicle in the form of a 2nd sedan (wife drives a Malibu) just to be smaller, more efficient, or to appease you.

There are an absolute shit ton of us who are professionally employed yet use our trucks as trucks far more than you think and use them in ways that you couldn't use your car. I have no doubt that a wagon or mini van would do a lot of what my truck does, but the mileage wouldn't be much better and it wouldn't tow my trailer as well they aren't that much cheaper to buy.

For the record, I put about 6k a year on the truck... half is towing. My response to you has nothing to do with insecurity at all. I continue to be amused by some on this forum who get righteous about truck buyers/drivers and apply a very broad stereotype, especially in your case about those of us in the south. oy.

I bought my 2013 F-150 SCREW to replace my 2009 Murano. Why? Because the Murano didn't give me the cargo space I was looking for to move things (I move generally every 1-2 years) or hauling gear for camping, photography, target shooting as well as weekend projects.

The F-150 gets roughly the same gas mileage as the Murano did, has four doors just like the Murano did, but it comes with gobs more cargo space for both people and gear. Also, I didn't lose on things like 4 wheel drive and a taller riding vehicle. Basically, it made perfect sense.

Gas is cheap now, so who cares?

My commute to work is about 5 miles.

The Hemi in my Jeep doesn't even warm up...

In the winter, I have to take detours to warm it up.
