Do people really need phones that are bigger than the 5 inch screen the S4 offer?

Any phone bigger than that and it would be an ergonomic concern for me.

Obviously there is market for this type of size if they are making it , And selling very well. I believe there was like 38 million note 1 and 2's sold so there is a demand for it.

I like almost everything about it but the TouchWiz, I'm also getting periodic Insufficient Memory messages on 3GB ram. Samsung overfilled this phone (S4 as well) with crapware like AirMotion, etc.

So how's that faux-leather? The second I heard about (and saw) that faux-leather backing, I was like, "WTF? Worst material choice EVER." Does it seem like it'll be prone to cracking and/or drying out with frequent use or anything like that? Is that even something that happens with faux leather?

It's not horrible, nicely textured (I have black), but I don't think it gives off the premium feel that Samsung wanted. To me it makes it look cheap.

I love the faux leather, feels great and looks nice too. You can disable the motion stuff, first thing I always do. Touchwiz is bypassed with Nova Launcher. Excellent battery life, two days normal usage. Beautiful 1080P screen with perfect blacks, true multitasking with multiwindow, S Pen for note taking and sketches, mSD slot to augment the on board 32GB storage, replaceable battery. This phone has it all.

I gave up my job provided iphone 5 for the note 3. Should be here by the end of the week. I need the screen real estate as I sometimes RDP into my servers and I dont want to use my personal S4 for work and the iphone 5's screen is just useless for my needs. Im actually hoping the VZW note 3 can be unlocked so I can use it on my tmo plan and sell the S4, but I doubt it.

It's a decent improvement over the Note 2 glossy back. The black felt a little 'sticky' until I wiped it with a damp cloth and now it feels pretty good. The phone itself overall feels very solid and the back doesn't creak when you press down really hard on it.

It's plastic so don't think it'll dry/crack.

Regardless I've already bought the S-view case which is one of the few pluses of the plastic backs - you can replace the back as part of the case to minimize any increase on thickness. Total rip-off price, but I want the auto on/off when the cover is opened/closed and the S-view window.

Zerogear - I disabled most of the motion gestures, kept the air gesture stuff, loaded Nova Launcher, and basically didn't do any other optimization. With my full app load including watching Netflix and a bunch of stuff syncing, I've never even gotten close to running out of memory or experiencing any issues. Are you doing anything particularly heavy? I assume you've gotten past the first several hours of heavy downloads and updates? I found for some odd reason, restarting the phone resulting in more updates. It took the better part of several hours and several reboots before the phone 'settled' down.
