I have the lowest cost wal-mart black vecros $10. I splurged and got two pair, one for work, one for home.

I almost got a pair of work boots from them, but daddy had a spare pair.

I could use some steel-toed rain boots though.

I've purchased a couple of pairs of sandals from there, and they were pretty decent and lasted me a few seasons.

I'll go with the "don't cheap out on shoes" camp. Sometimes you get lucky and they last a year or so, but most of the time, they're starting to fall apart within 3 months, and are destroyed by the time 6 months rolls around.

I usually get about 1.5-2 years out of the shoes that I buy, for $40-60 a pop. The last time I decided to cheap out and grab Walmart or Payless shoes, I paid about $20 per pair, and the glue on the sole started letting go on each pairs within 5-6 months. 2x $20 = $40 for ~1 year of wear vs. $45 for ~2 years of wear.

Nothing usually wrong with WalMart shoes, but I usually wait for a Slick Deal on Nike/Reboks (for around $18 to $20 shipped). With that said, my wife paid $3.00 for a pair of boots (clearance) for my daughter (a few weeks ago) and it had a 1/2" staple (carpenter's size staple, not desktop) sticking up inside at the heel. It was molded into the shoe (not through the outside heel). It cut my daughter's foot when she tried it on. Thank goodness that she didn't try it on standing up and then putting full pressure on it. Would most likely have had to cut it off if that would have happened.

Just make sure to feel around the inside of the shoes before trying them on.

Congratulations on supporting illegal aliens and Chinese slavery.
Also, congrats again when you buy new shoes in 6 months.

And it was damn nice paying 15 bucks for tennis shoes instead of 50+

Not bad, but you can do some major damage to your joints and feet, and end up spending big bucks in the future for treatment and medicine.

Shoes are things that I don't skimp on, but that because I'm on my feet a lot; and need the support.

SAS makes the most comfortable walking and standing shoes. I learned that in a 12 hour shift at a factory. The extra money is worth it.
Now they are my workout shoes.

98% of all shoes in the US are made outside the country (96% of all clothing). Not sure what percent of that is made in China though (most likely most of it though).

a good pair of workboots tend to be more comfortable, durable and longer lasting that the majority of even expensive shoes. stand on the head of a shovel or similar in each and you will quickly see what i mean....it makes a difference at the end of a long day on your feet.

You can't really compare boots with shoes. I don't find boots especially comfortable. "Comfortable enough for the job" is about the best I can hope for. I like shoes with thin soles, that are very flexible. That wouldn't make a good boot.

I needed a black pair of shoes once so I bought a cheap pair from Walmart.

I ended up junking the cheapies after wearing them once and bought a pair of nikes.

Red Wings makes extremely comfortable boots if you are willing to spend 200 dollars.

LoL! Yea right dude. I've worn most major footwear brands available in the USA, and there's a good chance I've spent more time in boots, than you have in big boy pants. If want thin soles boots are out, unless you're trying to impress the chicks at Hot Topic :^D

I've had a few pair, and some were well north of $200. None of the work boots were that comfortable, and sport boots were unsuitable for the task.

what he doesnt realize is there are actually hundreds of internal options for boots compared to about three basic ones for tennis shoes. All your tennis shoes will follow the same internal structures and often similar materials, that being mostly foam. you'll never see a triple shank in a shoe, but would be amazed at what more you can do without discomfort using even one shank. not only can you run, but climb, teeter, jump and most importantly, walk and stand all day without the same stress points on your feet that some cheap foam and thin rubber provide.

There is a reason why 3rd party insoles sell so well, tennis shoes are basically just designed for short sport activity, not long walks, standing or anything else. its thin foam and thin rubber with marketing bling behind it.

give it up lxskllr. you don't know how to shop for the right boot, you just bought some boot that fit your feet is what you did, price is irrelvant...some boots are made for specific things, plus your just used to walking in tennis shoes, plus your a stubborn tard.
i worked for wolverine for 4 years...i know boots and wolverines are not the best btw.

I don't wear sneakers, and yea Wolverines are shite. I didn't work there, but they've been tested in the field. Like all the boots I've worn, they've been tested on high steel, boulder fields, rebar cages, knee high mud, and briar patches ;^)
