I bought myself an electric guitar (PICS)

I decided that two years of waiting to buy an electric was long enough, and that I am finally good enough to actually warrant buying one, so I finally bought one. I did a lot of research online, and had 4 particular models in mind, all low-end models around $200 that got good reviews. Unfortunately, the guitar store I went to didn't carry any of them. Bah. However, I did manage to find a used Fender Automatic SE 25W amp for $80 (apparently it's $300 new). I found a BC Rich Warlock that was cheap that I thought about buying, but I had read a lot of reviews saying the build quality was sketchy at best, and I didn't care for the way it sounded. So, I found an Epiphone Les Paul 100 for just over $200. I liked the way it felt, the way it played, and bought it right then and there. I've barely set it down since. I have new blisters on my fingers from playing so much. Definitely one of the best investments I've ever made.

PICS!!!!!!

I have a really really crappy acoustic. At least I learned on an acoustic so now this thing feels so much easier. The action is so much smoother.

Yeah the SGs are sweet axes. I got this at GuitarCenter too. The kid who made the sale threw in some goodies for me because we both listened to power metal and I sang "The Book of Heavy Metal" in the store

I use an Epi 100 for my everyday guitar. First thing you need to do is change the pickups and it's god awful tuning machines. I installed a Burstbucker 2 and 3, and then some Grover mini tuners. It's perfect now!

I've got a similar guitar. Epiphone LP, heritage cherry sunburst, but it seems to be a bit higher end than yours I think. I really lucked out on the top... it's gorgeous

I swapped out the pickups for a 490R and 498T, and the guitar store guys couldn't tell the difference between mine and the Gibson LP Standard Plus they had there in store. The tuners are still crap though, so I'll second Fritzo's suggestion of new pickups and new tuners when you get the chance.

And then a Jim Dunlop wah wah pedal...

And then a Marshall tube amp...

And then an effects station...

Heh...I don't think my wife would like that last step, so she won't let me go past the effects station

Anyway, the neck on this guitar is a bit thinner than a usual Gibson style neck, so it plays really fast. I think that's why I liked it so much.

yeah I noticed the tuners suck. I hear people telling me to upgrade the pickups all the time; how much would that cost?

If you're handy with a soldering iron you can do it yourself.. pickups are usually about 100 bucks each but they can be had for cheaper on ebay or whatever.

I'd recommend the burstbucker 1 and 2 by gibson for that guitar.
