Thanks for all of the help you guys have been while I was choosing out parts.

Anyways..

I'm on xp home and ...

1) I have two hard drives, one H drive (Sata, which is my os and programs drive) and a C drive (IDE, which is data, music, photos, videos, ect.) When I click the start button and it shows my documents, my music, and my pictures, is there any way I can change it so it goes to my C drive folders directly?

2) What can I do to protect myself from adware and spyware and viruses? I have adaware and norton anti virus. Anything special you reccomend for keeping my system running clean and smooth?

3) I have a leadtech geforce 6600 GT. I am trying to figure out how to get the video out or in working but don't understand it. When I tryed to install the WMD drive before you install the winfastPRV it gives me the error "maybe not leadtech device". and winfastPRV says no capture device detected. What exactly can my card do in terms of video out and in and how do I hook it up?

4) I installed winfox software which came with my graphics card and every time I start up the computer I get an error, something like, "winfox invalid access to memory". Any Idea how to fix it?

5) Is there a way to add and remove things from the lower right icon tray (by the clock)? without going into msconfig and useing selective start up instead of normal start up. I ask because I get an message everytime I boot where it tells me I should change it back. (all I did was remove quicktime from that tray for clutter sake).

6) What can I do to make my computer run more smoothly? Any special tweeks? or ways to clean up clutter? I'm staying away from overclocking right now.

7) do you know of a download accelorator that is free and with out adware or spyware?

8) The best dial up speed I get is 31.2Kb/sec. and downloads are at 2-3kb/sec. Any proven ways to improve these speeds through tweeking ect.?

Thanks for all of your continued support.

1. Open My Computer. Drag hard drive/folder icon into your Start menu button. When you open Start there will be a shortcut to the drive/folder in the upper left.

2. Practice safe browsing and email habits OR get firefox or an alternative web browser and email client. (in which case you should still practice safe browsing habits).

5. when you get the message on bootup, click the checkbox that says do not remind me again or something of that nature.

8. Get broadband.

1) make a shortcut. For example right click on your desktop -> new ->shortcut. Wizard should start. Just make a shortcut of your c: drive and drag it to your start menu.

2) Don't use IE. Use e.g epera or firefox. I would recommend firefox. Download microsoft antispyware beta, or use lavasoft's AdAware for scans. I haven't got any spyware/adware in ages so I stopped using those...

3) No comments.

4) No comments.

5) Yes. Right click on your taskbar. Choose properties -> customize -> choose the icons that you don't want to waste your taskbar space and change their behavior to "always hide" This will remove only the icon. The programs will still be running.

6) http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/service411.htm. You can remove useless services. Also might help with the part 5.

7) Don't need one, so no.

8) I feel sorry for you...
