Similar coolers so what? Your system is 1/4 piping.

WTF

Does that look like 1/4 in tubing to you? And nevermind that we have the same case, same waterblocks, same line of CPU and GPU, similar memory, and a similar motherboard.

If that's not similar I don't know what is.

That is just rediculous

Wow, people really don't read on these boards. It's perhaps the nicest computer case available PLUS an entire watercooling system (resevior, radiator, pumps) that is perfectly integrated.

First, it's only $475 for that Koolance PC3-725SL case.

If one bought the components separately, it would cost roughly $450:
Lian Li PC-V1000 Case - $175
Koolance INX-720SL Cooling System - $275

So that leaves an extra $25 which pays for the custom mounting job (cutting a large hole in the top of the case, etc.)

If that is the motherboard layout, two double-slot PCI-E video cards will not fit. The upper-most PCI slot will not be usable as that is where the radiator is positioned. If the cards are both using water blocks instead, the second video card may fit, but I highly doubt it just by looking at my system.

EDIT: Just to clear some things up, such a setup will work with the A8N-SLI motherboard because the two x16 PCI-E slots are shifted one position down.

Wow so then the techie guy was actually right.
SO I just stick with the premium?

My big worry is that i lose alot when I go to the premium

What if dual x16 lanes eventually become handy down the road?

I am also having difficulty wrapping my head wround the fact that the heatpipe doesn't work "well" when it's inverted

infact I don't understand how the conduction of head is affected by inverting the motherboard since conduction is dependent on the the heatpipes specific heat capacity

i still can't figure out how one of the boards will work better than the others....they all have the pci-e slots in the same spot, the all have a pci slot at the bottom (or in this case since the board is upside down in the case the top), the only difference i can see is that one board has 1,4x pci-e and the other has pci slots. somebody show me the light!!!!

Graphics cards now don't use the full capacity of an x8 lane, much less an x16. It will be a few years before that happens, and since you obviously don't have an issue spending money, I'm sure you'll be able to upgrade.

As for the heatpipe issue, it's tricky. A heatpipe basically works by captuirng heat energy and using that energy to turn a liquid into a vapor. As the vapor rises within the pipe, it cools and returns to the bottom as a liquid. The process then repeats, acting as a conveyor pulling heat away from the source.

Inverting the pipe isn't a problem in most cases as the liquid merely falls to the appropriate end (by the force of gravity) and rises when heated against the force of gravity. However, for some reason, the heatpipe used by Asus does not work inverted. Perhaps the liquid is unable to move to the other end, or maybe it doesn't have a sufficient wick. Either way, it just doesn't work. Maybe they fixed the problem on newer models, but if not, you will need to remove the heatpipe and add cooling to both the chipsets and the mosfets.

You're right, there is a difference, in which case you're stuck with the older design.

How will you survive such a blow!?

*overly dramatic sigh*

There's a few more pictures. As for the motherboard question you posted above, the A8N32-SLI has a different layout compared tp the A8N-SLI. To make room for the changes (such as the missing x4 slot), the x16 PCI-E slots were both moved up.

thanks, i never saw that firts little pci-e (is it a 1x?) slot on the first board you link too. now i can see where there might be an issue. i didn't realize both pci-e 16x slots were moved down an entire slot size.

thanks for the pics, looks good. are you using 3/8 or 1/2" tubing?

you were saying pci, not pci-e. i was just looking at the pci slots, there is a huge difference between pci and pci-e...
