I personally dont know, but you did the right thing by asking here, sorry to say but techs in shops etc are friggin morons for the most part. The only tech here tried to charge me nearly £100 for a 128mb pc100 SODIMM, and told me if i used anything else im risking my life and my computer could "blow up". Stoopid pieca trash, he wont last in this town.

Sadly, I disagree. He will last, simply because of mom and pops that get that 'fear' message. You on the other hand knew better, but I doubt that's true for the general consumer.

Heh, this towns majoritively old people and nursing homes, the last two IT shops went bust because theres no demand, and they were average at best. Mr i know nothing shoulda done a little market research before setting up his expensive looking IT shop in the bad part of a low demand town

I've found the better setup is to live in a city/town with a low cost of living, and do business over the internet. I couldn't do what I do and live in NYC, but in Memphis, I do fairly well.

It is B.S. The layout of your motherboard is almost identical to the layout of the board he wants to sell you. It is a common tactic for salesmen (especially when it comes to technical stuff like cars or computers) to try to convince you to buy an upgrade, repair, or replacement that you do not need. Since he does not have a board more expensive or better than the one you have he is instead giving you an excuse that the one you have is incompatable. BS.

Thats what I think too Googer.

But if you look at hte deluxe he said that the radiator prevents him from installing the card since the bottom pci slot is blocked

he says premium doesnt have this problem, I'm just gonna buy the premium
and if the deluxe fits i'm going to return it and say he dicked me.. best I can do.

You guys are missing the point.

I nered to use 2 PCIE cards. They are both DUAL SLOT cards which had 1 metal part of the slot dremelled off.

He said the Card in the deluxe would be touching the radiator since it is os thick. He said in the premium that the cards would be up top and they wouldn't hit anything and the Sound card is right underneath them rectifying hte problem.

I sure hope your "techie" is planning on water cooling the chipset on that motherboard, as the inverted placement within the Lian-Li case will make the heat pipe virtually useless. Before I added blocks to my chipset, my A8N-SLI was northbridge was running over 75C. Luckily, that lasted only a few hours.

It is a very well known issue, and makes perfect sense when you know how a heatpipe actually works. Of course, why listen to me? I only have a system nearly identical to yours. Thank god I don't have your attitude, too.

i think u guys are forgetting ..its not just a case.......
it has a water cooling system integrated into it which is probabally a high end water cooling system
water cooling can get very very expensive by itself.
although usually i liek to get cases under 100 or so

I'll read up onthe heatpipe issues

for hte record your rig is nothing like mine.

Similar coolers so what? Your system is 1/4 piping.

don't buy it and do not believe him. IF you try to return it he may not take it back. A better solution to the problem is to get a differant Heatsink/Radiator. If I am not mistaken all new model ASUS boards come with a flat low profile Northbridge heatsink with a heatpipe. We are talking about the northbridge cooling as the obstruction aren't we?

A lot of other people have already been running SLI on these boards for sometime now including Wesley Fink editor of Anandtech motherboards. This board was designed for SLI by engineers who are way smarter than some dumb ass Geek Squad Tech making 6.50 an hour.

EDIT: Compaire these two boards on USA.ASUS.COM the layout and heat sink are identical between the deluxe and the premeium! The only major differance is the Chipset that they used, ASUS saved a lot of time, R&D, and Money by using an exisitng moterboard design. It's a common practice to do that in almost all industries.

no we're talking about how the sli slots aren't beside eachother in the deluxe like they are in the premium therefore causing the 2nd card that sits at the bottom in the deluxe for sli being blocked by my radiator

That's the case i have.

The local tech is telling me he can't install my cards in SLI with an A8nSLI32 Deluxe because he says I'd be hitting the radiator os ome trash like that and I have to switch to a non dual x16 A8n SLI premium

I'm not sure if I want the a8n sli premium since I feel that I will lose the ability of maximizing my video card's potential...
Is there a huge difference or is this guy just straight lying"?

Thx

I can. So can everyone else who's actually tried to cram a bunch of high-end parts into a machine along with a custom cooling system or some other unconventional gear. Motherboards, cases, and cooling devices are all slightly different, things don't always fit. I'd guess that the radiator might be relocatable with a lot of manual labor dremeling and refitting, but you're dealing with a business. They're going to customize the box for you within the limits of their convenience and profit margins, not the limits of your imagination.
