Yada yada. Don't come in here in a typical high-nosed ATOT fashion telling me how irresponsible I am, I don't deserve my work, blah blah.

I do a damn good job at my work (project manager). But I'm just REALLY not motivated today.

Emailed me boss. I'm gonna stay in and enjoy my weekend.

Good for you! Americans seriously need to learn to let the whole job thing go a little. Utterly ridiculous mindset.

sometimes you just burn out.. its ok to take a break as long as there aren't serious consequences I guess..

Hopefully your boss isn't aware of your ATOT postings and user name.

Edit - I don't get to call in sick. You could be dying, and you'd still be required to report to work. In all likelihood, they'd have you report to sick call, where'd you'd get to sit and wait for a few hours in a waiting area before seeing a 'doctor' and having them give you some over the counter cold medicine.

When I was employed (have worked for myself many years now), since I never was sick, I occasionally called in sick just to take a day off and enjoy myself. Nothing wrong with that at all, have fun.

I wish I would have called in, my nose is stopped up something ridiculous.

I rarely get sick enough to call in, however I do on the occasion call in sick to just relax.

Oh well my vacation starts Monday and I wil lbe off for a week YAY!

I wanted to call in, as I think I probably threw up in my sleep and then swallowed it again (I'm sure you didn't want to read that, sorry!), and I was super stuffy and my head was clogged full of snot this morning. But my wife is off for her birthday today and I didn't want to ruin her day off just for her. Plus we're shorthanded at work as it is, being sick would screw my co-workers over. I actually feel OK now though, so I guess it's good I came in.

This might be the least interesting post I've ever made.

Interesting +10

I was going to call in today to enjoy my birthday without being stuck at work. Unfortunately I got sick on Monday so I HAD to call in that day, which meant I had to work today.

QFT. I hardly call in sick when I'm actually sick.

Enjoy your 3 day weekend! I'm doing the same today but I don't have to call anyone because I am the boss.

At some point, when you are really, really sick, go in to work. Do this just once and no one will ever question your sick days. If what you have is obviously contagious, even better.

My last job had very draconian policies about calling in sick. I required a doctor's note if I called in sick, so a lot of the times when I was sick, I wouldn't bother, I would just show up instead. Cough on my hand on the way up the stairs, and then touch the door handle. A week later, the cold spread fast throughout the office as everybody who came to the second floor used that door, so 15-20 people ended up getting sick. This is why micromanagers suck who tell you not to call in sick.

policies like that are bullshit. what if your doctor is like mine and nearly impossible to get a sameday appointment?

I don't dare call in sick. It will cost me $20 and a few hours of my life to get a doctors note. The doctor visit will last all of 5 minutes, where he will dispense the info of "get some rest, drink plenty of fluids..."
