Kickass! They marked the ground for the electric, gas, water, and utility lines on my front yard couple weeks ago. I was wondering and hoping if it was for underground fiber. Now it's confirmed. This is a nice Christmas present. I don't know if I need gigabit speed but it's going to be nice to have the option. I have Charter 30 Mbps internet now. AT&T only had 3 Mbps DSL. Now I'll have leverage with Charter and can switch back and forth between AT&T Gigabit and Charter internet depending on the promotion.

Anyone have AT&T gigapower?

is gigapower a different product from at&t fiber or is fiber a rebranding?

Nice! Google Fiber is getting installed in my area. Hoping they've refined their process since first starting in Austin. Friends that got it in the first waves said it was a long PITA getting the fiber ran, installed, and configured.

I just moved into a new neighborhood and they offered this for me too. I took it at the highest tier. It's $80 a month, but worth it to me. No issues so far, and very fast. I wanted it for gaming, downloading and streaming 4k. Multiple people in the house and devices everywhere. So far pretty happy with it. Install guy was nice, on time, and knew what he was doing. Took almost 2 hours.

Rebranded. They called it Fiber on the phone with me.

Edit, from my cellphone on WiFi and from my pc hardwired to the modem/router.

Not too shabby.

Comcast is my only option..... I have no comcast equipment, but if I could switch to a different company and cancel my service, I would go to the local office just so I could flip everyone off and tell them to go F themselves to their face. It might even be worth the 72 hour psych lockup I would get if the cops caught me.

Never heard of this.
I have AT&T DSL at home and office - 3Mbps at home, 1Mbps at office.
Max. line capacity at office - 1Mbps. Max. line capacity at home - 10Mbps.

Fuck...I WISH...the local phone company, Century Link, told me they can get me DSL...between 1-2 MB service...the local cable company, Wave Broadband can barely provide me with 55MB service...and it goes down at least once per week, for a few hours...or days. Service sucks...but it's my only broadband option.

Nice!

I remember when I got first hand knowledge that we were going to get fibre here, was so excited. I signed up as soon as they ran the cables on my street. Whoever is fed underground got the shaft though. Only available to houses fed aerial.

Ackmed, nice speed. I cut the cord years ago and stream and watch everything through the internet. But I only watch free stuff so 720p to 1080p are the norm. So I don't currently need the high speed but it would be nice. I pay ~$64 including taxes for my Charter internet. Is AT&T fiber $80 before or after taxes?

I've thought about cutting the cord for a second, but just can't. Enjoy sports too much, NFL Sunday ticket is a must. College games are a must. We like Game of Thrones, Shameless, etc on premium channels too. I know I can get them other ways, I just don't feel like jumping through hoops. Security camera can be displayed on the TV since its all AT&T. It's just a channel flip away from seeing who's outside. We do use Netflix a lot too.

Just looked at my bill, it just shows $80 flat. $55 for security and $68.88 for Direct TV. Only tax I see on the entire bill is TN Satellite programming sales tax, $5.25. Comcast killed me with fees and taxes. Internet was $50 with them for unlimited, but far slower.

Another edit for the picture;

Promotional rate is for 12 months.

Thanks. So it looks like $80 is the total price including taxes and fees. Nice. I'm willing to pay extra $16 a month to upgrade from 30 Mbps to gigabit. But I don't know if I'm willing to pay extra $45 a month at $109 once the 12 months promotional rate ends. That's too high price to pay for speed I might not benefit from.

My daughter doesn't watch TV. My wife and I watch OnDemandKorea and Youtube which are free. I watch Sunday NFL football OTA and Thursday night football via Twitter stream. After I cut the cord, I gradually watched less sports to the point now I pretty much only watch if it's on CBS, Fox, ABC, NBC.

Lucky you. here I am in Silicon Valley next to a Google Waymo office and my options are Comcast or 3 Mb AT&T... I don't even get a good Tmobile signal.

Their $15/mo internet is only 2Mbit/sec? That's a bit on the slow side. You would think their min. plan would be at least 3 or 5 Mbit/sec down.

I just got Internet Essentials for $10/mo for 10/1 service.

Yeah, it's a but pricey. I know I signed 3 years for tv, don't remember for Internet. Maybe you can haggle after a year if it's just a year contract. Try the 'ol I'm gonna go elsewhere and see if they drop it.

Having 4 people actively using Internet I think it's worth it. If it was just my wife and I? Maybe not.

I've never used WiFi at home before because I have Verizon unlimited. But now I do because it's faster, where my Verizon was faster than Comcast at the last place.

I would kill for 10/1 for $10 a month. More speed, less money. Fucking Time Warner.

Must be nice to have options. Comcast is it for me, save for AT&T's pokey copper wire DSL. They'll never upgrade the lines in my area. Too small of a town.

We have comcast and verizon, both are terrible. Fortunately for us Comcast is rock solid it's just the expense that sucks. Our local gov't frowns on competition. Comcast had a monopoly for a very long time until Verizon was able to pay someone off.

Good luck. Hope they don't break too many water/gas/cable/phone lines.
