I can remember when:

- Mobil 1 Motor Oil came out of the bottle black.

- They still had commercials on TV for cigarettes.

- I could buy a slice of pizza for a quarter.

- When there was a gunsmithing vocational class in high school.

- When political conventions weren't infomercials..

-A slice of pizza cost $1. Well, it still costs $1 at some of the pizza places around here, but you know what I mean.

- When we had a surplus, and a certain someone wanted to put it into a "lock box". Man, we should have done that.

TVs only had 4 channels (2,4,7,9) and 9 was Canadian.

Gas was $.19/gal.

You had to pierce the top of an oil can with your spout.

You never knocked on the door, during nice weather, of a friends house to call him out to play. You always started shouting when you got within 50 feet of the house in a sing song voice, "So and So, come out to plaaaayaaa."

Kids could spontaneously play outside without adult supervision or being organized by adults.
You picked your bank based on which one you could get to on a Friday before 6 PM so you could cash your paycheck.
All computer-generated output was printed in a fixed-width font.
You would pick up a penny if you saw one on the sidewalk.
Nobody cared or had any way to tell what brand of clothes you wore.
Almost everyone subscribed to the newspaper.
Neighbors helped each other out in tough times, even if they weren't necesssarily close friends.
You only used credit for a house, a car, and appliances.
Rotary phones. On party lines.
The convenience store was the place of last resort, as their prices were astronomical.
Typewriters and white-out.
Test patterns on TV followed the national anthem.
There were rich areas, middle income areas and poor areas of town, but no bad areas of town.
