My daughter is going to live with her grandparents for a few months during school. They are too old to be jumping up everytime the phone rings for her
(she's never home). So she needs a cell phone as her only phone.

Then if you really need that many minutes, get her a really good Nextel plan. I believe they have plans with free, unlimited incoming phone calls at any time.

Are those free incoming good even if they're from non-Nextel callers?
If so, that is a great idea.

What plan are you on? A company name might help.

Well I have 300 minutes a month. BUT, I have unlimited night and weekends from 9pm to 6am(this also includes free nationwide long distance). So basically I do all my calling during those times. My cell is now my only phone and it turns out that I am saving alot of money with it. Before I would be spending 30/month for basic phone and then another 40-80/month for long distance. Now I'm spending 35/month and talking alot more...

Yup! Any incoming calls at any time from any phone are free. The plans, however, start at $69.99 a month.

I doubt I use 10-30 of my anytime minutes a MONTH. I just use mine during nights and weekends.

I sure hope she is nothing like my sister (or she is paying the bill). She can talk forever. She recently bought a new phone because it had a counter on it. I asked her what good it is if she talks so long it resets?!?! :Q I had my parents promise never to get her a cell phone. She could burn up 3000 night+weekend minutes in no time (forget the daytime minutes). Then again, she swore she would never use a cell phone because of the radiation.

man, my start-up company (not .com) phone system sucks. They have only 3 lines. And when all are used up. I have to use my own cell or wait. Whenever I look for a job, my phone bill is heavy. I paid $400 when I got this job (I have 250 min plan) it's too risky to use work phone for the interview, hehehe...
