I can't boot from the CD please help me out... so desperate....

Hi, I really need help really quick on this one. I have Abit mobo and it doesn't want to boot from the CD. I already set the bios to boot fom the CD but it doesn't want to do it. I am using PIII 450. I already set up the default for the bios and nothing happened. The only way I can do it is by using the Floopy drive. So can someone help me??? I am so desperate right now since I'll be leaving out of country and has to get it done is the next 2 or 3hours. So anyhelp would be appreciated. Thanks

Are you sure the CD really is bootable, have you tried it in another computer? If you are sure that it is, then it might be the CD-ROM drive, what CD-ROM drive do you have?

Yes, it's a bootable CD Rom. The CDRom is Samsung 52x. Any idea what caused this to happen??? Thanks.... anybody else please... really desperate here.

u seem to have access to a working computer and internet...
make a boot disk, and copy universal atapi CD-rom (DOS) drivers to it...

make an autoexec and config file containing the cd-rom drivers for booting (mscde.exe - or whatever the hell it's called...haven't used it in so long)

oh yaeh, if that's a bootable linux cd...u can't make bootable linux disks as well...

Are the drives connected the hightpoint controller on the Abit board ?
I usually have to make bootdisks for 2000 etc for that reason, you can set the boot sequence in bios and it still wont boot from CD, unless the drives are connecting to the standard IDE port.
(so I will be very interested in a work around if there is one)

I never knew that if you have an abit and you are using the highpoint drivers you cant boot from cd. That can explain a lot lol.
