I have both my computers on my wireless (Dlink DI-524) router and connected to the internet fine. The desktop is running MCE2005 (which appears to be a quasi XP Pro with media enhancements), with "simple file sharing" enabled, the laptop is running XP Home.
Both are in the same workgroup, MSHOME, but simply will not connect to each other. I've found I can't even ping my desktop (192.168.1.100) from my laptop (192.168.1.101).
I can see the other computer, but can't see or access any shares...
Is there some port that needs to be forwarded on the router? Or does the semi-XP-Pro security in MCE2005 screw things up? All I wanna do is have the computers be able to access each others' shares/files, unabated, and without having to log in, etc...
