I was unable to swallow pills for the first 12 or so years of my life. To help myself I would mix the pills with yogurt or apple sauce.

Now I can swallow pills without any sort of liquid if needed.

Yep, mind over matter. We often swallow food that is much larger than pills, even larger than those horse pills, yet we have no problem swallowing the food.

I used to swallow pills with yogurt to get them down. Now I can swallow little pills like Sudafed without anything to drink. I still don't swallow big pills all that well but that's for lack of practice. I've rediscovered chlidren's vitamins and recently found chewable fiber tablets (they're like freaking candy I tell you, yum!). FYI, the NBA trainers association (forget the formal name) recomends chewable vitamins as they are absorbed more readily (so they say in their book "Power Conditioning" IIRC).

separate your gel-caps and capsules from your chalky pills.
Gel caps and capsules float, so you actually want to tilt your head forward, not back when taking gel caps or capsules. You want them to float to the back of your throat, then swallow.

put your tongue out of your mouth as far as you can, place pill as far back on your tongue you can without getting any vomitting convulsions, drink some water and swallow in a quick movement.

or take a spoon of youghurt or similar place pill on the spoon, swallow.

I alwyas just put the pill in my mouth, then get my mouth full of water and gulp the whole thing down at once.

But I have a problem with Ond-a-day pills mainly because they taste like ass. Normal medicine pills with the white coating on them I have no problem with. This crappy one-a-day pills, as soon as they touch my tongue, they make me want to gag.

I just put all eight of my pills in my mouth at one time with a big gulp of water and down them. Then follow with another gulp of water. The faster I swallow them the better.

Yep. When I was younger, I could never swallow pills. The best way I found was to take a drink of water, hold the pill down on my tongue with my index finger and push it as far back into my throat as I could, swallowing it when it got back there far enough. Then take another drink of water. You might gag the first few times, but it works.

i used to have a horrible time with pills of any size. still takes me a little while to swallow it sometimes though. i recently took some cold pills and they were huge. why they make stuff that size is crazy. they were gelcaps.

as others said, just break or cut them in half if you can.
if its a solid pill, you could always crush it up and eat it with applesauce or something.

I can swallow any sized pill (that's meant for humans) with no water. Sucker. I don't know how to help you out... just put it on your tongue and swallow like you'd swallow anything else.
