With their current default web browser. Bet it will be nearly unresponsive even on fast hardware (core i7 965, 12GB of RAM, gtx 480) for a few seconds or minutes on most browsers. Not to say this really matters but it depends on how heavy of a web browser you are. It may even crash some browsers.

If anyone does it please say what happens and the current default browser you are using please ? I tried this before just curious what other people's experiences are when they do this. Yes sometimes I do it during real usage of my browser too it is not just a test it could be important for some. Guessing most people it is not.

Works fine in Opera 10.63.

Only thing is the videos took a bit to buffer from having so many open but the Browser remained responsive.

Yep from my tests Opera is one of the browsers that remain responsive when doing this! It handles it quite well! Doesn't really surprise me though because it is the only browser that lets me open 500 tabs close them and reopen them while still using a current tab while the other 500 tabs are loading lol. At least so far. This could change of course. Now I know the question is who uses 500 tabs ? I don't it was just a test but knowing that Opera can do this makes me feel comfortable with the browser.

I do every once in a while while I'm here at work. My end goal is to kill this thing but I can never succeed.

No problem opening 30 youtube videos in IE8 on my crappy Core2Duo work laptop.

Seems like it could vary a lot depending on which specific pages you are opening. I'm sure it's possible to build a single page that could kill any browser that supports flash or DHTML, or at the very least generate a "would you like to kill the script on this page?" message.

As long as the flash pages are not games that take excessive amounts of memory and CPU (Facebook games, for example), I have no trouble opening dozens of tabs in Firefox 3.6 on an old piece of junk computer (Athlon XP 3200+ with 2GB of RAM).

That is true I will try it though. Give me a page that could kill any browser that supports flash or DHTML please? I will open it 30 times if that is not enough I will open it 100 times at once to see what happens. Can make a video of it as well to show you what happens if you really want me to.

Well, there's this one which will definately kill IE8:

Chrome just stops running the script.

i regularly work with 30-40 tabs open at once. Opera can handle it no problem...

Yep I know I had well over 500 tabs open in Opera before. Though I did manage to crash Opera with a whole lot of youtube tabs for a test. I expected it to happen though it was going well over 1.5 GB to 1.7 GB + of memory usage. Not sure how many tabs were open but you could barely see each tab to be able to click on them lol. Still very impressive expected it to crash though or give an error with that many youtube flash websites open. Most browsers would of gave end much earlier.

Firefox starts to get laggy at around 25 tabs of YouTube playing, with 5 more tabs of YouTube not playing, and another 15 tabs of random stuff I usually have open. Satisfactory performance imo.

Wow not bad! The 500 tabs of youtube I had open on Opera, it didn't crash with that, was just Youtube's main page just so no one misunderstands. There is no way I would try 500 tabs of video. What do you all think I am crazy lol. Not even going to attempt that. Doubt any browser could do that. I would be shocked if it could.

IE9 Beta has no problems running that.

Yep same here. I tried crashing IE9 Beta before and it is almost impossible. I have crashed toolbars in it though because I had to many tabs open lol.

I do like being able to drag around Youtube video tabs while there playing and still being able to watch and the video play. You can do this on Opera, Firefox, Chrome but you don't see them just hear them.
