some think that Bruce Willis saved us from a rogue asteroid, but it is a lesser known fact that even before his time, a much larger and more deadly astroid heading towards earth was stopped by the power of Al Bundy's socks.

Feats?

Neat little trivia tid bits about Ed O'Neill:

*Was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969, but released during training camp.

*Was nearly cast as Sam Malone in the TV show "Cheers" (1982).

*Expected "Married... with Children" (1987) to be canceled within the first 6 episodes.

*Was considered for the role of the father in "Family Ties" (1982).

*Learned Ju Jitsu from the famous Gracie family, the creators of Brazillian Ju Jitsu.

*Taught Social Studies in Youngstown before acting.

I used to be repulsed by the humor in that show as a young'in but now that I'm in a similar situation I now see the grains of truth and can relate to the humor.

Was that also the one where Al made burgers using the ashes from Marcie's dead aunt? hehehehehe

And I don't think it was an asteroid the socks averted, they were used as fuel for the aliens' spaceship which did something to stop the destruction of the WHOLE universe - not just Earth. Go Al!

Al Bundy is defenatly a great man. My fav episode is the one where he is a security gaurd at the school with Ed "Too Tall" Jones, and they have the "fight".

But while remembering Al, we can't forget one of the other great dads of TV. Red Forman. Al may have played football in high school, but Red fought in Korea.

I hate to crap on a perfectly delightful thread, but I have the first three seasons on DVD and have noticed something annoying.
Seasons 1 and 2 were genuinely funny, but the third seems lame somehow.
Its like they try way to hard on jokes that arent shocking or cool, just lame.
It would also seem the theme song was revised (horribly).

Has anyone else noticed this stuff?

One of my all time favorites, as tv shows go, gotta be the best. I liked home improvment too, gotta be to only two tv shows i watched regularly.

Hehe, I was the same way. When it first came out I found it repulsive. 5 or 6 seasons later I watched the show one day(was on everyday by that time) and I was immediately hooked.

Very interesting. I can see him possibly being a Sam Malone, but not as the Father on Family Ties. Though I suppose that's all relative.
