I didn't realize how popular Macs were

If Apple had a "Logo Delete" option on the MBP's then I would pay, say, $50 for it. I covered my white MacBook top with bumper stickers. I haven't had the heart to deface my MBP yet, but I feel the shining white Apple logo on the backside of the screen just attracts attention when I don't necessarily want it. (Including from little kids, i.e. nieces/nephews who want to touch the computer because they can see the Apple glowing from across the room)

SO glad they don't make the Apple on the back of the iPhones light up. (BTW I also can't stand the OtterBoxes that have the cutout just to show the logo... WTF?)

Also, on the build quality issue, IMO Apple has a trump card in the MagSafe connector. My first laptop was a Compaq, a pretty nice one ($1700 or so?) purchased in 1999. (14.1" Active Matrix screen baby! K6-2 CPU @ 350MHz, later upgraded to K6-2+ @ 450, 64MB -> 192MB RAM, 4.3GB HDD, 8MB ATI discrete graphics, I think a Rage Pro?) After about 1.5-2 years of use as my only PC, the power connector started going on the fritz. So I got a docking station and.... after a year or two, the power connector on it started going on the fritz. I'm talking the internal connector, which is soldered to the motherboard and which is not usually well-braced by the shell of the laptop.

Anyone who actually uses their laptop as a laptop (taking it with them on a regular basis, using it in bed, on the couch, etc.) knows that you can't keep the power cord at the exact same ideal stress-free angle all the time. Sometimes it will be hanging off the edge of a table, sometimes it will be coming from a weird angle. In any case, I have had 2 or 3 other experiences like this with other family members' laptops besides my own, and damned if I wasn't whistling a tune when Apple came out with MagSafe. My wife and I have gone through 5-6 MagSafe cords in the 7 or so years that we've owned Intel MacBooks, but that's far better than having to replace a motherboard due to a shorted power connector.

Not to mention the possibility of a pet or person tripping over the power cord. My old Dell laptop suffered a major crack when my cat managed to pull it off a table by its power cord. MagSafe is a great feature.

Bought this: http://www.speckproducts.com/macbook-cases/macbook-pro/smartshell-satin-for-macbook-pro.html It's very very hard to see the Apple logo with this on and it protects the machine as well.
