From birth they are brought up in the church. Some go to religious schools, always being around religious people. Thier views are never contradicted or challenged. And once they are firmly set like concrete in their childhood in their close minded religious ways then, literally, goddamn the atheists or other heathen religions that don't think like they were brainwashed to believe.

And you also need to get a lot of those Golden Halo Jesus Points for converting the heathens to your beliefs while alive, so once you get to heaven you can trade them in for Golden God Points to spend extra time sitting around his throne and also get neat robe, harp and wing upgrades and stuff.

Religion is kind of like being born and raised a Republikrat.

I find that with him, he is young, filled with tons of thoughts/ideas, but at least in real life he is respectful to a certain extent. Online he does talk a bit of smack and try to bring me down, but I tell him I don't really care what his thoughts or opinions are on the subject. I also find it funny because he has a priest as his religion teacher who is a crazy smart bastard (I had him in high school also). He won't mention to the priest he is atheist, even though he attends class everyday and completes all the assignments, conflicted thoughts of a young mind I guess.

First off, he doesn't attend Catholic school by choice. His parents probably make him go there. Secondly, you like to joke around with him that he is the anti-christ? Sounds like you are a bigot. You like to belittle people's beliefs and put it aside as joking. I bet he doesn't think of it like that. Gosh forbid someone challenges your beliefs and you step up on the soapbox.

I have never had an atheist try to convert me, in person face to face. Unlike fundies showing up unannounced at my door pushing Jehova. I had this very thing happen at least 30 times so far. This response isn't directed solely at you, but at everyone who has made the point that he jokes about his friend being the anti-Christ.... Is that honestly a big deal? Really? My friends and I hurl insults back and forth between each other all the time, and I know that we've referred to each other on more than one occasion as the anti-Christ (including my friend who considers himself Christian). It's something friends do with one another; it's good-natured ribbing.
