MOST "boozes" are an acquired taste...you have to "learn" to like the flavor.
Sure don't.. There's a reason you don't see whiskey flavored versions of other food.
Alcohol naked, without any synergy of other flavors is indeed horrible and incomprehensibly terribad.
However, get a nice malty and bitter double coffee oatmeal chocolate stout going, and around 15% or so abv really brings out all the other flavors.
This "learning to enjoy the flavor" is associating the flavor with the pleasant buzz you get. The flavor itself is still bad. There's a reason you don't see whiskey flavored versions of other food. Whiskey tastes bad. Men drink it because it is perceived as manly to drink something that burns going down. It's the Don Draper thing. The flavor is still and always will be shit because it's watered down ethanol flavored by wood that you are drinking.
OMG, Bourbon County stout or KBS ... soooo good ...
Bourbon barrel aged stouts are soooooo tasty! Another thing that uses whisky as a flavor!

If it gave no buzz they would drink soda or something else instead
No. For me, the buzz is more of a side benefit. I LIKE the taste of many good varieties of whiskey/whisky. However, bourbon/Tennessee whiskies are not in that list. Just the smell of Jack Daniels...or most bourbons makes me want to vomit. (Might have something to do with drinking 2 fifths of Bourbon Supreme when I was about 14...and it nearly killed me.)
For me, the "heat" in jalapenos and other varieties of Capsicum annuum is a side benefit. I like the flavor of the "fruit."
Capsicum chinense is different. Most varieties are hotter than I prefer...and I don't care much for the underlying flavor of the "fruit."
Why would anyone want to drink something bitter? A bitter taste is not a pleasant one at all. Sweet, salty, those are pleasant tastes to most people. I don't know anyone who would drink something bitter and like it. The very taste makes you pucker and want to spit it out.
Quit being a pussy, 190 proof is just, well okay, it sucks. It doesn't even "burn" like the watered down stuff, it actually hurts and leaves your mouth and throat raw. It is also educational as in, "I was stupid to drink that."Everclear, the closest to "pure" alcohol most of us will ever get, is difficult to drink straight. At 190 proof, (apparently they now make it in 151 proof too) that's 95% pure alcohol. IMO, it's like drinking perfume...or something worse...
I love bitter things. Most adults love bitter things. Most children do not love bitter things. Why would anyone want to drink something bitter? A bitter taste is not a pleasant one at all. My throat wont let me drink everclear. Anything stronger than 151 instantly comes back up.Quit being a pussy, 190 proof is just, well okay, it sucks. But the OP is correct, alcohol tastes nasty. You shouldn't drink alcohol.

I stick to 80 proof or lower. Sadly, my intestines have been all flummoxed up by some kinda infection since like Oct, so I'm avoiding all alcohol.
Doctors orders ..Alcohol kills most infections :awe:
Let's be honest ethanol tastes like crap, seriously
If you like that flavor you are f***ed up
Doctors orders ..
He gave me the all clear for hot foods, just have a list of certain things to avoid ... Sadly, the "avoid" list includes things like Coffee and Alcohol... but, the abdominal pain and cramping is far far worse than not being able to drink tasty things ... I should recover and at least be OK for moderate drinking at some point again.
