I don't get it....my Duron 750 will run fine at 833 but won't run at 850 at all....

Had it running at 800 today doin everything from listen' to mp3s' and flyin MS Flight Sim 2000...so I thought I'd try for the heck of it 833 (104x8). But a couple of days ago I went to put it up to 850 from 800 and it wouldn't run for a minute. Which gets me thinking: When your overclocking, do you need to let it run a while at one speed before you bump it up to the next? I mean for like days?

No. You have reached your limit with the specific setup you have.

Get a better cooler, when it freezes, quickly reboot and go to the bios and check the temp... know that the temp you see is your limit, so if you can get to 850 with a better cooler below that temp then it will work fine.

I thought my Tbird 850 was just maxing at at 1000 Mhz, but I was really just overheating, with a better cooler I did 1140 fine..

I have a Thermaltake CHrome Orb on there - their rated for up to 1.5Ghz. I guess this just might be as fast as this particular chip can go....

Not to fret though, I'm eyeballin a 1.2 - 1.4 Ghz Athlon for "soon" purchase....

hmmm chrome orbs are some of the suckiest hsf's you can buy. I think that the stock hsf's are better in most cases.

And whats this about the Orb sucking? WHA..? Im getting a very good temp with it!!! Its barely cracking 100F under a load!!! Ive been on the computer now for a couple of hours in an apartment with no air conditioning, with an overclocked proc (Duron 750@833) and the temp is 100.4F!!!

you've pushed one of your components too far, imo. upped the fsb too much. Why not try increasing the multiplier first to see what you can run stable before increasing fsb?
