edit: and I watched episode 6 where the Brit gets lawn mower'd, HOLY SHIT. They fire him knowing he's a prodigy just because his foot got mower'd off? Clearly they've never heard of a walking stick...hell, soldiers in WW1 that had amputations were given fake limbs (very crude), why 40 years later can't this guy get one?

The 1960s US were more Soviet than they'd like to admit. meaning, handicap people did not exist.

playing golf was (and still is, I think) super important in the biz when it came to networking with clients.

The gramps was pretty awesome. LOL, he gave his grandson a Prussian helmet that had dried blood in it. I loved Don's expression haha.

Why is it bad to look at an eclipse? or is that just a 60's superstition.

I loved the episode a few seasons back where Roger Stirling spends the day guzzling booze, tops that off with some fresh oysters, then determinedly climbs the stairs to the top floor of a skyscraper (lifts are broken) only to vomit all over the carpet.

The best part about this was that Don set it up.
Earlier in the episode before going out to lunch you see him talk to Hollis (the elevator operator) but you don't see what he says, just that he's reaching for some bills.

Later on the elevator is mysteriously out, coincidence? No way.
Don Draper is that damn good.

Wow, I never noticed that part/point. I'm going to rewatch that episode.

Neither did I. that's pretty damn sweet.

Don is worse than Pete Campbell.

yeah, that scene was tits.

it's bad to stare at the sun

you have to stare at the sun, more or less, to see an eclipse.

which reminds me. that dude that came up to Don: "I stare at the sun all day!"

Incredulous, Don: "You stare at the sun all day?" I lol'd.

dude can drive the cart around and get wasted. That's only redeeming factor about golf anyway.

I realize the importance of golf or BS business transactions, but a gnarled foot wouldn't kill anything.

It is Soviet. Handicap people did not exist. They were sent off ot Siberia. Same with blacks and homosexuals.

wait, let me ask my GF to confirm this for the 1,000th time--she grew up under Soviet occupation.

Yep, definitely Soviet.

Everything NFS4 mentioned has huge implications for the rest of the season. Just because they foreshadowed it and you guessed it half way through the episode doesn't mean it doesn't drastically change multiple relationships in the show.

Each development also affected the other developments, all through Don.

Don gets handed contract, Sterling pressures him, he releases on Peggy (thus Peggy nails Duck). Betty meets with Governor's advisor, which gives her the balls to confront Don after Sterling calls (about the contract again) - this confrontation leads to his joyride to roofie-land which makes him realize he's not going to be able to control every aspect of his life, further exemplified by Cooper bitchsmacking him in the office (a twist you completely missed)

I understand if you don't like the show or don't care enough about the characters but don't come in here and talk like you're so much smarter than the show and how it doesn't impress you. Try thinking about it more.

The show is a beautiful goddamn tapestry.

I already knew all this... You guys keep trying to point out shit that I somehow didn't catch.

I don't really care for Don or Betty or any of the characters anymore since they've ruined themselves quite a few times.

they're not meant to be "heroes."

if you don't like core concept of the show, why try and make yourself?

Personally I don't believe you. Never once in these forums have you shown the slightest inkling of higher level thinking. So much so that you had to change your forum name so people would stop associating your new posts with your previous stupidity.

Regardless, name a better, more intricate show, or stop posting in this thread. All you're doing is crapping on something that's popular and intellectual so you seem wise. You have no insights of any kind or retorts other than 'Oh that's not interesting' or 'Oh I totally saw that coming' or 'Oh my personal morality does not align with these characters and time periods.' All of these things are subjective and useless to furthering a discussion.

Just go away.

Edit: The below proves my point - you have no understanding of the main fucking character in this show, and because of this you want to kill all the people because of their 'stupidity':

I have watched the first two seasons and I am just starting on the third... I might quit..

But, it's like... I want Don to be a good guy and not so fucking unloyal, but all he is is unloyal. It's like... Why not just be honest or just break up with your wife? Why don't you just kick her out and do what you actually want? He obviously doesn't have a real conscience so I don't see the problem in doing it.

If the 1960s were anything like this... I definitely would hate to live there. I would be killing people left and right because of their stupidity.

If you really can't think of answers to any of the questions you posted, you have no understanding of the character to whom most of the show is devoted. Stands to reason you will not be able to understand anything else.

If you think 'stupid' people should be killed, you should stop posting in this thread and save yourself.

When did Don and Sterling become so bitter of each other? Aside from rigging Sterling's upset stomach, I thought Don and Sterling were friends, and Don forgave Sterling of his attempt to seduce his wife.

Why did Don get all pissy about Sterling's wedding?

I remember the falling out at his wedding, and there was something else I just can't put my finger on. Don doesn't approve of his former secretary being his wife?

Pretty lame reason, tbh.

The producers did say this season was going to be darker--it is about dashed hopes and people trying to get something, but not. Sounds like Pete Campbell is going to be pissed off.

He has a hot wife though

Don't worry about it.

Men and women aren't cut out of the same cloth, and culture differences make it even more of a gap.

I wasn't raised on a North American value therefore craps like that show bored the hell out of me too. Excessive consumerism is another twisted value that I disagree with American built into their "tradition" and holidays, such as Christmas, birthday, and buy now play later mentality.

IMHO, North American TV mentality is the most wasteful of resources that we all can do with out.

<--- No cable since 1992.
