And let me add, Roger Sterling is perhaps my favorite character -- and I was nearly doubled over in laughter in Season 2 when Pete went into the bathroom to look at girlie mags to get a semen sample and the camera cuts to Sterling whacking at a paddleball

I tried watching the show a few times, but it just doesn't interest me.

But, it's like... I want Don to be a good guy and not so fucking unloyal, but all he is is unloyal. It's like... Why not just be honest or just break up with your wife? Why don't you just kick her out and do what you actually want? He obviously doesn't have a real conscience so I don't see the problem in doing it.

If the 1960s were anything like this... I definitely would hate to live there. I would be killing people left and right because of their stupidity.

Don isn't meant to be a hero. and Betty is a horrible mother.

they're flawed characters, it's part of what makes the show interesting.

Haha, yea that was awesome.

One of my favorite scenes was during a picnic Don was having with his family, when they got up to go, they just left all their fucking trash out, didn't throw anything away, just left it all there and walked away.

So in other words the 60s were just like today?

Uh, way worse... We've made some progress since then.

If you're going to base what real life was like off of a tv show, you need to destroy the tv and go outside to see what real life actually is.

I didn't live in the 1960s. How the fuck am I supposed to know what it was like other than what others say/write it was like?

Yeah

The camera just sort of lingers on the trash for a while. There are so many good moment though -- many of them with Sterling:

"Did you ever get three sheets to the wind and try that thing on?"

"other than what others say/write it was like?"

That says I have read.

Just not successfully, since you admit you don't know squat.

Anyone can read.

We're talking comprehension and retention. Also, comics, bus schedules and the back of cereal boxes hardly count.

I've enjoyed watching Betty gulp down glass after glass of wine despite her being pregnant. She's constantly puffing on a cigarette, too. and then you have the 11 yr old daughter driving the car down the road practically unassisted (taking a driving lesson from the demented gramps). I guess a lot of the concerns we have today just didn't register back then.

Wait, what? 11? Are you serious? That kid is 11 and that stupid? I was pretty sure she was like 8 or 9.

Sally is 11 now.

Who just watched this episode? It really put our current healthcare debate in perspective. It's interesting that it was Pete who advocated an integrated ad campaign; he always seemed like one of the most conservative and bigoted characters.

Up until the early '60's, the lips on little girl's vaginas didn't even separate until they were 12, sometimes 13.

It was a different time.

Also, people in suburban subdivisions kept marmoset monkeys as secret love slaves in their garages.

I loved the episode a few seasons back where Roger Stirling spends the day guzzling booze, tops that off with some fresh oysters, then determinedly climbs the stairs to the top floor of a skyscraper (lifts are broken) only to vomit all over the carpet.

I laughed so hard at that, especially since he was being introduced to some high class executives of a company.

Kinda. I was kinda hoping for some plot twists though. None happened in this episode and I guess that is what you should expect.
