I don't like Democrats and I don't like Republicans. What am I?

Slightly serious thread.

I used to consider myself a Republican. That's how I have always voted and that is how I am registered. But now...now I can't find a single thing to make me want to affiliate myself with them. I can't name a single issue that they are promoting that I agree with. To me it seems like they exist only to say no to Democrats.

I don't agree with Democrats either though. I don't agree with Green, Liberatarian, Roos Perot, Paul or anyone.

So...what am I? I'm pretty sure my hatred of politicians has driven to be what most would call a radical or an extremist. I don't think we should all take up arms and overthrow the government but I don't trust the government to do what's right. I don't believe the system can be fixed. I believe DC and everyone in it is broken. At this point I just want the government to leave me and my family the hell alone and I won't bug them either.

You're an Independent. Welcome to the club. I cast my vote for who I think will do the best job, not what party flag they cling to.

You'd probably make a good jihadist. Aren't you an Independent (if you partly agree with both)?

I think that what you are is a person who is insecure not being a member of something. That would imply you have a conservative moral perspective called group loyalty. But they weren't able to pull you into their bubble because you have some ability to reason.

I would recommend that you be happy. Then you won't have any need for bias or any need to be anything.

That seems hard to believe. I doubt there are many people who disagree with the GOP on everything. Seems like you have a similar position on gun laws, for example.

They aren't promoting 2nd amendment rights.

I don't know what it's like in your state, but in mine the Repubs are the only reason we didn't get crap anti-gun legislation rammed down our throats a little while ago.

Federally as well. . . Not exactly proponents of more freedom on the federal level, but at least they seem fairly committed to the status quo of gun rights.

Before we go any further, OP, let's have an assessment - name three things that you don't agree with in the Democratic Party.

And then name three things you don't agree with in the Republican Party....

\this will be interesting....
\\because if you answer, I'll show you to be a Republican....

You are someone who sees through the hypocrisy of a false system, designed to give you the belief of choice. Only sheep follow a party, rational and intelligent people avoid political herds and view the nature of reality wherever it resides, however it resides. Standing firmly on their own 2 feet.

You're the thing of nightmares to Dems and Repubs alike. They don't like voters that can think.

Politicians, Republican or Democrat, have much much more in common with each other than they have with you or I.

Majority of federal Senators are either lawyers or bankers. Went to similar schools. Drink at the same bars. Golf at the same clubs. Accept money, err campaign contributions, from the same lobbyists.

In fact, 50% of retiring Senators and 42% of retiring House members become lobbyists.

When a Congressman becomes a lobbyist, on average, he gets a 1,452% raise?

And you want them to leave you alone?

Think they get would get paid all that money if they didn't work to transfer wealth from the 'little people' to the organizations that pay them?

So? Welfare for all - what does that mean?

Obstructionism? What is being obstructed?

What overspending do you take issue with?

The only bad thing about being an independent is that you do not vote in a primary(at least in my state), and so you do not have a say in who you get to choose from in the general election.

Is it still obstructionism if they are attempting to stop overspending? Welfare for all? Gun control? Or are they still damned?

The Democrats want everyone to rely on the government.

The Republican party only seems to care about an issue after the Democrats care. And their only plan is to be against whatever the Democrats are for.

All overspending. $17,000,000,000,000 worth.

Dunno, don't care anymore. I'm over it all.
