I early voted. Biden's name was on top, Trump was 2nd on the ballot

i thought the incumbent was always listed on top?
Only on a few states if any. Allot of states make it random (or at least random with the two major parties as the top two) because there is evidence at least for races lower on the ballot being actually can provide a slight advantage in how some (apparently way too impulsive) people vote.

Probably up to your state/jurisdiction. In my parts all candidates are listed alphabetically by last name.

Don't some places put the candidate for whatever party you are registered with first (if applicable)?

On my ballot in Leon County, FL, Trump was first, Biden second, then all other candidates were listed in no particular order that I could discern.

This. If you get a ballot with Trump below Biden and you want Trump to win, throw away the ballot and refuse to vote until you are provided with a ballot with Trump on top.

This is true. If Trump isn't on top, it's a fake ballot. Instead, you can cast a vote for Trump by leaving your Made In China MAGA hat with your signature on the bill. Just be sure to show your photo ID when you do so.

Ours in FL were:
1.Republican
2.Democrat
3.Libertarian of Florida
4.Reform
5.Party for Socialism and Liberalism
6.Green
7.Constitution Party of FL
8.Write-in line - we have 6 candidate pairs who have qualified for write-in status, but you have to know their names to vote for them as they are not listed on the ballot. Write-in votes for anyone besides these candidates do not count.

Apparently the party that received the most votes for FL Governor in the last election in which a governor was elected goes first. Then the other party candidate and after that the minor party candidates in the order they qualified and after that candidates not affiliated with any party in the order they qualified.

I just wonder if it could possibly be more complex. There is guy as our a Governor who cannot spell complex, but the ballots are like tracing your linage from Neanderthals.
