I was looking back and the car started moving foward. Since I forgot which pedal was the brake during the moment of panic, I accidentally hit the accelerator and made the situation worse and hit the car in front of me pretty hard. Inspector told me not to drive but I think he was just being a dick.

Having an issue like that shows that you weren't ready to drive yet. I'd know as I did something similar and I knew I wasn't that ready to drive (barely drove at all). Drove a lot more and I was fine and a lot more confident in my ability, which is what it takes.

I'd written some big long opinion and explanation and justification and so on, but seriously, dude, 4 times? Give up. And 4 majors on your 4th attempt? And you've been 'learning' for what, 3 years? And you can't afford to pay £48 every time you fail? You'll be paying that every couple of weeks on petrol. Oh, and insurance? Road tax?

I call shens/parody on deathkoba. Seriously? So, you'd been driving along, in D. You stop, look behind you, and expect the car to go backwards? Oh, oh, let me guess, you thought if you pressed the brake when you were stopped, the car reversed? Surely in an auto, your foot was on the brake? So you lifted it off, it started going forwards, so you thought, OH CRAP and stabbed the other pedal?

Jahee, maybe your girlfriend should've noticed the bloke in the luminous jacket carrying a stop sign into the roadway and slowed down a bit before getting there? The instructor HOPEFULLY meant she would've failed whatever she did because she wasn't paying enough attention beforehand...

Here you have to outright STOP, no matter the circumstances. I didnt exactly not see the thing, its not like i came flying out of the junction without looking left or right, i slowed to a crawl, looked right, nothing coming for miles, looked left, everything was kosher, so i drove on. It was because i was at a very slow crawl, and not a complete stop. Its daft, cause in order to get a better view of whats coming a slow crawl is good as you can see whats coming a lot better. Clutch control is what i used there.

Hmm, with a name like "Stop Sign" why would you think that means slow down? FYI you have to stop at a stop sign here in the US as well.

Well not everyone knows a lot about cars, much like people might not know anything about computers or finance. When you're looking backwards in a car that you're not famililar with, it's easy to hit the wrong pedal and when you're under interrogation, you can become nervous and make a few mistakes. Hell I know a few people that failed by driving on the wrong side of the road. Where I live, most people do not drive. We take subways and buses so there's little time and place to practice.

Then you should not be on the road. If you hit the wrong pedal during a driving test, when you should be most aware, then I hope they limit you to 1 try per year. Pedals are in the same spot: left brake, right accelerator. Also how did you never change gears? The things people complain about...

couldn't have said it better myself . . . I sympathize with the first attempt, if it went down as you said, but the last three, its all you buddy. . . missing a stop sign is not a "no big deal" type of mistake . . you could kill or get killed if you don't stop where and when you are supposed to.

Well you have start somewhere right? You can't tell a baby not to try walking just because it can't stand up. Where am I supposed to practice? There isn't any unused space around here that I can drive and practice freely. These tests are done on real roads on the streets, not an artificial environment made specifically for road tests like in some places.

LMAO. Your driving test isn't meant to be driving practice. If you haven't had enough practice to take the test, don't take the test. If you never have enough time or opportunity to practice, you don't really need a driver's license, do you?

Don't you hate it when someone drives in the left lane(passing lane) and drives at or below the speed limit. You can wait behind them for a couple minutes and they will just sit in that friggin left lane! Forcing you to pass them in the right lane... gr

i also hate it when fvcktards tailgate me when i'm 10-20 miles over the speed limit on highways and won't let them pass because people are going a lot slower on the lane to my right.

I'm just REALLY glad the OP is on the other side of the pond, not here in the "good old US of A", where we're all EXCELLENT drivers...

For me, my daily commute was just another day at the track... "Every day is a NASCAR day."

Just go to the Netherlands and get a license there, I heard its only 60 euros, and they seem pretty leniant, cause when I was in Maastricht, most of the cars there had some sort of damage to the rear bumpers. I found out why when I saw some woman attempting to parallel park her hatchback and bumped into the car behind her lol.

Anyways don't give up man, when I was in Fahrschule (german driving school) I failed my first driving test 45 minutes into it after not stopping at one of those white lines at an intersection. Did perfect for the 1st 45 minutes, but one little mistake like going over that white line failed me... so a week later and 300 more euros, I take my second driving test which only took 15 minutes, and got me Fuehrerschein.

your attitude stinks, much like your driving sensability. i wouldn't be surprised if you cause an (major) accident within 5 years of getting your license.

I got a real prick for my first attempt. My car hit a nail and popped the tire and it jerked towards the curb. I rubbed the wheels for a second and the guy says, " Too bad. You should have reacted faster. I asked him if he was serious and he said he was, so I told him to F* himself. I went to a nearby town the next week and passed with flying colors. I told the dude about what happened the first time and he said he'd heard of the previous guy and in his opinion he shouldn't be an instructor anymore.

on another note, if the OP is still following this thread. . . seeing as how you are still in the process of getting your license . . you're in no position to be calling other people "kid" . . . You're probably enjoying defending your actions to ATOT community but seriously, did you expect us to think your really a good driver when you failed four times and that it is the UK govt's fault and not yours? Instead of wasting your time ranting on ATOT, I suggest you hire a driving coach to teach you how to pass the test . . . whether or not you keep those lessons in mind after you get your license is up to you . . . but if 48 pounds is expensive for you, you better keep them in mind cuz tickets would make that look like petty cash.
