So far the snap traps have worked well to instantly kill em though except for that one mouse. I caught 2 more last night, think I'm on like 5 mice now. Was going to run the cabling for my notification system today but got called in to work for tonight as well. With all this overtime I've been getting maybe a thermal imager is in the far future.

I've been starting to think about it this way as well. If there was someone breaking into my house I'd want them dead and I'd have to resist due to the law and all that. I just need to think of these mice as thiefs breaking in and causing damage. Guess the only difference is the mice don't actually mean harm in doing it, they just don't know any better. But regardless have to get them out swiftly.

So far they have not gotten into living space yet but I really need to stay on this before they do. My fear is they start chewing through the vapor barrier, that will cause all sorts of issues such as drafts and then frost due to the moist hot air getting in the attic. I have blown insulation in the attic now, pretty much impossible to move around in there now to fix it if it happens, too.

Yeah, that's originally how I found out I had mice, actually. She was staring at the ceiling. In fact because of where she looks at times I have a few ideas of possible entry points. And no, I'm not putting her in the attic lol. She'll probably get sick from the fiberglass not to mention any mouse feces that are probably up there.

Lucky for me my female cat takes care of ANY smaller than her intruders. Spiders up to large rats, she will kill them all.

She even tries to fight racoons that get into the courtyard of my aparment building but i dont let her, i dont want to pay for the vet bill im sure would follow a fight with a racoon.

My male cat is useless though for hunting, which is wierd he is thinner and much larger and faster with much greater stamina, just no killer instinct.

Mice don't know any better, so how can they be possibly evil? You need self-awareness and intent to be evil. I suppose my two year old nephew is evil because he drew all over my painting and ruined it?

Even if I was up to my chin with mice, I wouldn't torture them to death. "Humane" to me also means a quick and swift death. Mice might be "disgusting" in some contexts, but no more than some people who exist on this planet. This is precisely why I'm opposed to vigilantism. What if it were a 13 year old kid who was just dumb and didn't know any better? Or wanted to steal because they were desperate for survival (ie. parents can't pay off a loan shark, or parent-less, etc)?

Thieves can be rehabilitated and contribute to society, but no, they should all die shouldn't they? If the intruder came at you with a weapon and tried to kill you, yes, lethal force is acceptable. You need to check your house for any holes leading outside and plug them up with something they can't chew through. We had mice for years. One died in the wall, had to rip it down, discovered an abandoned mouse city and a gaping hole in the foundation. Plugged it up with chicken wire and expanding spray foam. That was ten years ago and we haven't had mice since.

Glue traps suck and they have limited shelf life. They are also hard to re-use. My cheap dad used to rip the dead mice off and put it back in the corner. Fur + dust != sticky trap.

Dead in under 5 seconds... 1 if the first whack did the job, which I'm pretty sure it did, everything else after was just to make sure. It's a gruesome death, but at least it's fast.

What I did is much more humane than people who use sticky traps or live traps and don't check them and they die a slow and painful death.


Caught another last night. Got an email around 6am. Little ah heck licked most of the traps clean, tripped a couple and finally died in the last. He died happy, had his face stuffed with peanut butter.
