I feel like the only person who is excited for the Galaxy S3

I wasn't sure on the Pentile screen at first but in comparisons you can barely tell the difference unless u look so closely and are that fussy. However the 720P screen looks great, can fit much more on the screen in the browser and the contrast ratios of OLED screens mean I cannot go back to LCD/LED anyways. I used to love my old iPhone 4 screen but now when I see one I just noticed backlights and grey blacks. I know comparisons on a monitor aren't the best way to judge a screen but in side by side comparisons the screen looks every bit as sharp as the GS2 but with more on the screen at once, which is what I wanted.

The main thing for me is how bad Android is, I cannot use Stock Android and ICS really hasn't made any difference over GB as far as I'm concerned. What I noticed with using Touchwiz and then trying stock GB is how much better Samsung made it by adding in lots of features the iPhone has. Just simple little things like being able to take screenshots but change the whole experience. I used to hate the stock music player on GB and the stock camera app was useless and Samsung made it work out of the box.

Seeing what Samsung have done to the ICS version of Android it looks amazing! I love the new look of the new Touchwiz version, I love all the new features like S voice and the shortcuts to get to places like the camera. The best feature is the Picture in Picture which sold me instantly when I saw that, not sure if that's an ICS feature but I cud never find it on the GS2 ICS rom. Samsung are really making great changes to Android that IMO make the OS much much better!

While the phone is made of plastic, I prefer that over glass and metal like when I had an iPhone 4, end up dropping it and getting dents on the metal and the glass shattering on the back. So you'd always have to have a case with it, which is cheap plastic and you never see the phone under it anyways. With my GS2 I never ever had a case because it had a removable cover, so if it got scratched it was easy to replace. However I dropped it so many times and it never broke, never got scratched and just proved to me why plastic is the better material for making a phone.

I love the 4.8 inch screen, I would even ant to go as big as the Note, just love having a screen I can actually use for things without having to squint or my thumbs taking up half the screen. I love the new RGB notification LED which sadly the GS2 was missing. It has Micro SD and Removable battery which is important to me and why I didn't buy the HTC One X. The 2100mHa battery also is a bonus seeing as most other mobiles are launching with around 1800 atm.

I think the phone is everything I wanted, the only shames are the Pentile screen and the 8MP camera, however that isn't based on anything. If the camera quality is better than the GS2, it doesn't have the lag the GS2 had when taking pictures and it doesn't suffer from the pink spot in the middle like most phones do, then I'd be happy. If I see the Pentile screen in real life and the quality doesn't look any worse than the GS2 but a higher resolution, then again I'll be happy.

I just think it's a worthwhile upgrade and don't see what all the hate is about? Again you can watch video while doing other things with picture in picture :O I've always wanted that!

I really like it (not the white one, but I havent seen a white phone I like yet). I'm not sure its a definite buy for me yet until I see a battery test plus I'm not finding much wrong with my SGS2 yet.

If I had to give my recommendation, I probably would gamble on the SGS3 over the One X. I think the One X display is better, the construction is better, and the battery life and storage is fine as is (for me). However, seeing how much money Samsung has thrown in to provide additional services and partnerships, I would say that you may get a better user experience in the long run and more exclusive content if Samsung continues to build on this infrastructure.

Sometimes it's not just about hardware specs.

I like it, but not sure if I want it enough to spend the money to buy it out of contract, even with what I could get from selling my Razr and old Evo 4g for. I wish they either did something more interesting with the design or had a better PQ camera. Though they do deserve points for getting what would seem to be a very fast camera that can take pics while video like the one x. I thought not finally using this generation to have every best feature in the screen (4.3"+ check, 720p check, gorilla glass 2 check, no pentile zzzzt) was beyond stupid. I know they didn't want any big delays like last time but I think they should have at least gotten that for sure.

Probably the main feature I'd enjoy most if I bought one was wireless charging. My phone is on a desk all day and all night but I'm constantly picking it up and hate messing with cords

Also, is this the new LTE gen 2? Which I hear is supposed to have much better life over LTE? Mine's on it 24/7

I like it but I was expecting/hoping for a home run. A15 dual core with 720p+. Instead, we got iPhone 4S like disappointment. I don't know if it's that bad but both had incredible hype and both disappointed heavily. Apple tried to mask it with gimmicky features like Siri and it seems Samsung is doing the same with eye tracking and PiP. But I'm sure Samsung will sell boatload of GS3 just like Apple is doing with iP4S. Both are great phones.

As someone who's stuck with Verizon and still have a Droid OG, the S3 will be a massive upgrade for me. Sure, I guess there are better processors they could use, but in comparison to what I have, this is going to be great. I almost pulled the trigger on the Nexus but decided I could live with my Droid until the S3 came out. I was really hoping to hear about a Note-like device coming to Verizon soon, but still don't see any confirmed dates for that, so I'll probably pull the trigger on the S3 unless a Note-like device gets announced soon.

I'm looking forward to it, the software seems to be a step forward compared to stock Android and it seems so much better than Sense and Blur it isn't even funny. The hardware is bleeding edge as well and there really isn't anything to find fault with.

The only thing that is stopping me from getting one at the moment is the fact that my galaxy S2 does everything I could want and then some.

So really the hate is from people who already have a phone that does the job and they cannot justify spending £500 on a new phone.

That's fair enough, it probably isn't if you haven't got £500 to waste. However that doesn't mean the phone is crap, like what did you expect to happen? The CPU and the GPU were the logical leaps and they benchmark amazingly well so far. They aren't going to try and change the game with some Minority report UI stuff.... I just don't get what people wanted.

It's basically the leap from the Galaxy S to the Galaxy S2. People saying it's like the iPhone 4S.......... well the Galaxy S3 delivered something better and that's a bigger screen with a higher resolution, which is the main thing you notice from phone to phone.

Registering for the forum of a major tech site one day after the announcement of a phone that many were disappointed in... Do you work for Samsung?

I find it amusing that sites such as TheVerge threw out baseless rumours for site hits and then make an article crying about how Samsung broke their heart. Its no different than the Iphone 4S debacle, people believe all sorts of crazy rumours that tech sites throw out for hits and then get dissapointed when the phone fails to love up to them

I dont think the phone is head and shoulders above the rest like S2 was but 2012 is also a middle of the road type of year for technology. Its equal to anything that just came out with some negatives (pentile) and some positives (wireless charging, removable battery, SD card slot) depending on what you are looking for

Pretty much this. All rumors and hype. Honestly, it hasn't even been a year since the SGSII hit the US market... it's actually barely been 6 months. How much more did people expect? The only thing different I expected was hopefully even a higher res screen but I think Samsung is saving something for the iPhone 5 launch also.

Rumors for iPhones are hitting a lot of sites. Saying that it'll have a slide out keyboard and microsd slot.

I'm excited as well. I haven't had a reason to upgrade my rooted Galaxy S but the specs of this phone are pretty sweet. Hype was crazy high though, I think people were expecting Samsung to shit fairy dust on this one.

I think, when all is said and done, they were expecting a next generation SAMOLED screen and a better processor and a different but better design. The next generation screen is what I was expecting (one with better whites because that is SAMOLED's very weak point, IMHO).

I dont think either was a disappointment, but i dont think a lot of peop,e can think rationally and realistically when it comes to things like this.

I was a tad surprised it wasnt A15 though, especially since Samsung has tapped out A15 silicon. I'm guessing the next iphone wont have A15 then and we'll just get a 32nm A5 with 1GB of RAM.

But, come on guys, be serious. Of course the next iphone wont have a slide out keyboard and/or microsd expansion.

Samsung taped out the a15 a couple days ago, i'd imagine sometime in the fall they'll have a phone with an a15 soc in it, perhaps the next nexus phone?

Anyhoo i wish these phones wouldn't be getting so big every release, why can't they release them in different sizes with identical specs, perhaps a 4.3" to go along with the 4.8" behemoth. My sgs2 just barely fits in my back pocket, this thing would stick out like a sore thumb.

I had to go look this up and found the article from four days ago. Bummer. I thought this had happened in late January.

But I've got my money on Motorola doing the next Nexus phone, haha.

Hell would freeze over x100 if Apple will ever put a keyboard on the iPhone.
People that want a physical keyboard are in a small minority.
Its an endangered species. HTC stopped doing it and more manufacturers will follow.
