I filed a BBB complaint against Nzxt

I just wanted to post this as a warning to those of you that are considering Nzxt products for your systems.

I purchased my Nzxt Havik 140 around the new year for ~$60 with a $20 mail-in rebate. In about March I e-mailed Nzxt to tell them that I had not received my rebate. In fact I had not received anything at all from them, no confirmation e-mail, nothing.

So then a couple more months went by and then I sent them a nasty e-mail threatening legal action if they don't mail me my rebate immediately. They then responded to my message and told me that they would be mailing it out to me right away.

Now here we are today, probably 6 weeks after that last e-mail and I still have received absolutely nothing.

I hope my $20 was worth the knock that Nzxt is taking to their reputation over this.

Lame :\ Hope you get it sorted.

Went with a Noctua D14 myself, generous company with a reputation up there with corsair and logitech. Coolers not bad either

That's too bad to hear but maybe they'll see this post and fix up.

That sucks. Good luck. I will remember your post the next time I'm shopping for computer gear.

One time, a long while back, I got a rebate check in the mail. I deposited it and it bounced. So not only did I not get my rebate I also got a $21 overdraft fee for my efforts. Thankfully that company is long gone now.

There are NZXT reps over at OCN. Hit one of them up. They normally have excellent customer service.

I got burned by them also. I bought an H2 that was missing the top foam with all the accessories that came with the system, and I contacted them in their forum. While their support people contacted me right away, took my info and said they'd mail everything out, they never did.

I didn't care since I was able to salvage what I needed from parts I had lying around, but it did leave a sour taste.

That said, I kinda like Fractal cases. They are plastic-y but pretty nice.

Is Fractal owned by NZXT?

Nah, I don't think they are. I just felt like mentioning my current favorite.

OT: Me too, I just picked up the Arc Midi, very nice and clean, pretty easy build too.

OP: I hope this all gets sorted for you.

Fractal's support is in an entirely different class than NZXT's. An NZXT Source 210 I bought from Amazon for $40 for a budget build because it was cheaper than the Fractal 1000 by $6 came with a defective 120mm fan. NZXT wanted me to ship the dead fan back before sending me a replacement, lol. Not surprised their rebate practices are shady.

File with your State's Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission as well. If you're still not satisfied, take them to small claims court for filing fees + $20 (for the rebate) + time and travel.

I hate unfulfilled rebates with a passion (dboaz = Golgatha) - http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1307022&mpage=1

Step 1 - Contact the manufacturer about the rebate. Even if they use a processing company, they are ultimately responsible for fulfillment of the rebate.

Step 2 - If they are still denying your rebate and you have sufficient proof that you sent it with the proper documentations, warn them you will be filling with the BBB, your state's attorney general, and the FTC. It will cost them far more than $20 in man hours to respond and this should get the ball rolling.

Step 3 - If you're really concerned about the principle of the thing, file in small claims court. You'll most likely only get the $20 as a judgement, but you can feel good about wasting more of their time and money on your $20 rebate.

Thanks for all your input and sympathy guys. I will be calling Nzxt when I have the chance. I'm Canadian so I think that might limit my legal options. It's a shame that it has to come to this. They're doing this with other people; I guess it's a regular practice for them to lie and say they are sending something out when they're not.

Really though, my time is worth more than $20 at the end of the day. I wonder if anything will come out of my BBB complaint.

Unfortunately, the (American) BBB tries hard but they're ineffective.
Where they are good is for those of us that try hard to buy from a storefront that is a BBB member. But withdrawing the BBB logo from a member is rare. Still, it says something of the retailer who wants to be a BBB member.
