I finally got my copy of Vista Ultimate --which should I install 32/64 bit?

My system is a 2.16Ghz Core2Duo with 4GB of RAM. nVidia 7600GT with 256MB DDR3

I have Vista Ultimate 32/64 bit thanks to the Windows Feedback Program. I'm not getting rid of my XP 2005 Install....I just want to install a second OS.

What's my advantage of going with 64 over 32 or 32 over 64 aside from taking full advantage of my memory? Any recommendations on anything? I plan on upgrading to SP1 as soon as I install.

Right after I posted the question, I saw the other thread comparing the two. I'd seen other threads about it, but none had benchmarks comparing SP1 to RTM.

I think I'm going to go with 64. My big fear is driver compatibility and gaming compatibility, but I'll take a chance. I just hope my TV card is supported fully.

It's official. I'm on Vista Ultimate 64.....maybe it's just because it's a fresh install, but this is noticably faster than XP MCE. (still doing dual boot) I'll be bumping it up to SP1 in a little while.

Now that I have my windows OSes installed, I'll be adding OpenSUSE next on my desktop so it can match my laptop.

I'll be sure to report back if I have any trouble running MS Flight Simulator, BF2, or COD4. I'm hopeful that they'll run fine.

Did they send you 2 licenses? Somebody had said a while back that they were sending out 32bit & 64bit meda with a license for each. My copies are on the way, but I"m curious.

I was originally under the impression from others that a license for Vista was good for EITHER the 32 or 64 bit versions.

Having said that, in the package there were 2 DVDs......and 2 different license codes on the back of each paper sleeve. It looks like we have 2 copies.

Vista Ultimate comes with both 32-bit and 64-bit discs but you are only supposed to use the license for one, that may have changed though.

If this was for the Windows Feedback program, someone wrote them and they stated that both licenses were valid and you could install one (32 or 64) on one PC and the other on another PC.
