My parents are extremely well off, and I have a 2002 Ford Focus. In fact, my dad is actually driving it now that I'm at college and his lease expired--he's waiting till the summer to get a new car.

for their kids... It's weird, I usually either see this poor kid driving a beatup '89 taurus or '93 windstar minivan that is probably going to puke and choke on it's own vomit at the worst time and then I see these kids driving H2s, Mercedes SUVs, and other high end vehicles, while the middle car seems to be a lot less common. Am I the only one to find this odd? Remember I've seen beatup cars exit hs parking lots right after a row of fancy cars that are clearly driven by kids..

Another thing, what makes a parent believe that their child should be driving a brand new vehicle that costs more than some people's houses? $50K vehicle for a kid in HS is absurd, anyone agree? Sure you can say 'it's not my money' but I think it's a bit ridiculous considering that starting your kid off with expensive things will only set them up for failure..

who are you to judge how people spend their money? buying nice things for children and teaching them the value of money are not mutually exclusive.

They almost completley are, IMHO.

No they are not. If you can't teach them the value of money and hardwork, its not because of what you bought for them, its because you are a bad parent.

I'm pulling a car home from the junkyard, buying a crate motor, tranny and a nice set of tools with a Chiltons manual.

Here you go <daughter>, this is your new car. You can drive it when you get it running.

Repeat for other 2 kids.

Yes, they will hate me for it then but in the future I think they will appreciate what they learned.

Nah, they won't hate you, they will have fun smoking lowered mustangs and brand new bmws in their just on the verge of rotting '68 Chrysler Town&Country wagon with a 440 ci big block for a grand total of $500 like I did. I got more looks in that car laying on the throttle than I do in my Cobra lawl. Good thing gas was only $0.87/gal and I only needed 87 oct then...

Awesome sig too, I measure ammo by the crate

American made or American branded? For example there are Toyotas made in the U.S., and Dodges made in Mexico.
