LOL their values are totally unrealistic, that's hilarious. And zero for heat lol. Sure let all the pipes freeze now you got bigger problems.

Makes me glad I have a good job and don't have to work so many hours only to barely get by.

Working 70 hours a week is not acceptable for the amount of money they are making a year. Doesn't matter what kind of jobs you have. And I think it is entirely unreasonable to expect anyone to even work 2 jobs like that, it's unhealthy.

Unfortunately, if you take out the 2nd job you pretty much have my life for the last few years. Except my car costs twice as much and I do pay for heat. I don't get spending money beyond maybe $50 a month if I'm lucky.

Really when you think about it, the human life is quite sad even with a typical 40 hour week job. Go to school starting at around age of 3, till about age of 21, all to prepare so you can go to work for the rest of your life, then die. Maybe 10% of our life is for ourselves. At least for a typical 8*5 type job. People like me who work shifts get it easier. I'd hate having to go back to 8*5 again.

I have a budget of $0 for heat because gas is included in my rent (as well as garbage, water, and sewer). I know not all places are like that, but a lot are.

1. If you're an adult working at a minimum wage job, you need to learn some skills.

It amazes me how flawed your brain must be to not understand that shitty jobs will not just do themselves.

'Why don't all these poor people just become doctors and lawyers?!'

...because we already have a surplus of doctors and lawyers. Herp derp.

it's a mock budget, outrage not found.

I will say though, it certainly makes everyone think about how you live on minimum wage, which is why it's getting so much gossip.

We need to make sure in this country that even the shittiest jobs, pay back considerably better then living off welfare.

Problem is, I have a pretty decent job....and I have a welfare family living across the street from me in the same quality home

Yeah it's a problem when people on welfare are doing just as well as people working their butt off barely making enough money to survive. Either minimum wage has to go way up, or welfare needs to go down. Welfare also needs to be stricter, you should need to completely reapply every 6 months or something, and it should require some kind of documentation proving you are actually looking for a job.

I make pretty decent money but I also went to school on loans and stuff so I have a lot of higher bills to pay. I still have spending money and it's comfy at times.

Often, I find myself spending 90% on all bills and rarely on anything extra. But I have everything else I want. The thing about working here in the US is different than other countries. My friend went back to Europe last year. They aren't required to work 40hrs a week, still salary, with medical included.

Vacation and free time is valued more than here, it's a different lifestyle, more comfortable one. Of course you have minimum wage jobs and poverty there too. But I've seen plenty of family members rave about wanting to come to the US because that's where all the money is. Yeah right, even with their good education, the degrees don't transfer over and they end up working like dogs once they get here.

I know because my father was a doctor in his country and when he came to the US he had to work every shitty job possible. With time though he landed in a position where he makes really good money and a decent lifestyle. This doesn't happen to all people because there are always a few who don't believe in working that hard, or just stay in the same job rather than look to improving their skill set.

As someone who would have to pay over $300/month just for car insurance, I don't know how anyone working minimum wage could even consider owning a car. Public transit/biking is necessary pretty much.

1. Minimum wage is what 16-24 yr olds make when in high school and college. This is a temporary wage you make while going to school and/or learning a trade to make more money. This is not a destination job, this is a filler to get you by while you also either live with your parents or have some sort of subsidied income such as student loans or grants or scholarships.

2. If you graduate college or tradeschool and find you are still making this wage, you should have tried harder at school. This is mostly your own fault

3. If this is your destination wage, as it is for my adopted sister, then congratulations you lazy sack of shit. Thanks for wasting your life and having no work ethic and being a general drain on society. I have no sympathy for you if this is what your life is because you had every opportunity to make something of yourself and failed.

Why am I unsurprised that you're from Kansas.

Where are some more tornadoes to clear out the white trash when you need them?

Pompous white trash, at that.

I worked at McDonald's for a few weeks in college. The minimum wage was lower then but for most of the job it seemed fair. Mopping, taking money, cooking fries, handing bags. It isn't hard stuff.

Then finally I was told to do the job I avoided from day one- clean the bathroom after a shitsplosion. I quit right then and there. They didn't pay enough for that.

That's against the rules.

I just want his trailer to get wrecked, dashing his undeserved sense of accomplishment.

The guy at McDonalds is doing more for society than he is.

Zero tickets, zero accidents, zero demerit points, $300 per month. The joys of being under 25 and male in Ontario and wanting insurance.

Wow. Ontario sucks for insurance. I never paid anywhere close to that much for insurance in my life, even at 17 and just getting my license. That's absurd!

Yep, my most recent quote was ~$400/month for something similar to a 2000-2004 civic with no collision. No way on earth that is remotely feasible for me.

I used to pay $230 a month full coverage in Philly until I switched. And being 25 didn't help either. One accident that was not my fault. It varies, larger cities insurance and other bills will be pretty high compared to down south or rural less condensed areas.

having a skill doesn't mean becoming a doctor. You can become the best drive-thru employee they have and move up. Even at McD's a person can be looking for opportunities to advance and increase their pay. You don't make manager just for showing up on day 1

I read an article that said civics for MALES under 25 is absurd. because idiots (back in the 90's and 00's) where modding the fuck out of them. Then thinking riced out civics were now lambo's and getting in wrecks.

when i was 18 i had a Mustang 5.0. pretty well modded too. i paid $2k every 6 months for full coverage.

heh my parents agreed to pay for that long as i got good grades in school.

Soon as i turned 25 my car insurance dropped like a rock. getting married made it drop even more.

now i pay $375 every 6 months for coverage.
