Not sure why you consider it underrated, most have it right on par with both Godfather movies. I certainly do.

I just finished watching all three a few nights ago. I don't understand why everyone hates on III. It wasn't as awesome as the first two, but it was still damn good.

Goodfellas is a damn good film as well. I'd be hard pressed to pick one over the other.

i only hate on it for the inclusion of sofia coppola as michael's daughter. she was terrible. the story itself was pretty solid.

I don't think Goodfellas is underrated. It is certainly fantastic.

I think Donnie Brasco is underrated. It is also fantastic.

Also, George Hamilton is a poor, pathetic replacement for Duvall. (I actually think Hamilton was pretty damn good in this flick....but he's no Duvall)

The plot and the overall quality is actually pretty good, and I really dig the character progression. But, well....Sofia. blech.

Yeah, it's probably fine compared to the average movie. But it wasn't supposed to be the average movie.

Godfather 1 & 2 are brilliant movies. I watched 3 recently, it really isn't as good. It's not bad, ish, but compared to the first two, it's pretty bad. It (3) beats a heck of a lot of movies out there though.

I think the reason why 2 does so well is that instead of being a sequel it is a prequel and sequel in one, it gives you a bit more character insight into the first while giving extra character depth and development for the sequel parts.

I try not to watch them too often

I love the book (Mario Puzo - The Godfather) though, it's definitely worth a read - extra characters, plot and character development. The first movie pales in comparison though, so if I read the book again I give the movie a year or two's distance.

Yeah, DeNiro plays that scene perfectly. The landlord is about to mess his pants and Vito barely even reacts.

One of my favorites as well. III is just not as good as the first two.

I watched A Bronx Tale the other day, which is on Netflix streaming. Another good one, haven't seen it for awhile. Maybe not quite Goodfellas but I really like it.

The only thing I hated about Godfather II was how they introduced new characters without giving them a background of where they came from. For example is it ever explained who Hyman Roth is and how he became the main enemy of the Corleone family. Its been at least a decade since ive seen these movies and must have missed a scene involving more info on Hyman roth. I swear it feels like he just appears out of nowhere.

Also I think Goodfellas is a better movie than Godfather. Based on a true story and you are introduced to every single major character in that movie. Absolutly love the scene were Deniros character Jimmy "the gent" conway is introduced and the song "Speedo" by the Cadillacs is playing.

Yeah, I don't recall seeing him either. I even did a google image search and can't find anything other than his "present day" self.
