Gates: Understand those are cases where you are downloading third-party software.
from here
Mhahahhaaa.
Now that's funny. Of course the third party software is viruses, worms, and spyware that get installed thru the holes in Internet Explorer. How can one man be full of so much crap?
Um... he's right for the most part. Gator and crap like that is all third-party software that people click YES to when a popup appears telling them that the website is trying to install third-party software on their machine. Yes there are other security risks in IE, but the majority are the users own fault.
He is LYING, lie lie lie lie lie lie. He is full of crap. 100% BS.
And you know it.
I can find you DOZENS of exploits that required NO user intervention that have been found, exploited, and patched over the years.
Sure IE can be exploited with more frequency using exploits that tricked users into doing things that SHOULD be safe, but are NOT. Is that the users fault that they beleived MS was better at making software then they realy were?
Bill Gates made a bold face lie. He knew it, I know it, you should know it. In fact I can't even beleive that your defending him, that's why I am bothering to reply at all. It's simply amazing that all thru the years and hundreds of IE holes that you can type out a defense and act all serious about it.
Here is just a sample:
This is a dynamicly created webpage, so I can't link directly to it.
but go
here, select microsoft for the vendor, select internet explorer for "title", version "any". There are over 200 individual vunerabilities in that listing that came into existance since the year 2000.
I am sure that there are several that don't require any user intervention, other then clicking on a pop-up or visiting a malicious web page. And Clicking on a pop-up DOES NOT EQUAL clueless luser behavior. It's something that you SHOULD be able to do with no fear of installing software or getting hacked. (unless the pop up says "I want to install software on your computer Yes or NO", which the VAST majority of them DO NOT)
If you need more proof. Check out this
place.
On the "M" section of this overall database of software vunerabilities, from all software vendors from everywere (
overall database that attempts to document ALL vunerabilites) , Microsoft Internet Explorer vunerabilities comprises the vast majority of the pages numbered 11 thru 16. That's internet explorer ALONE.
The statement that vunerabilities in Internet Explorer is caused mostly by installing third party software is CRAP.
I normally would use stronger words, but that would result in a banning.
