i had this exact same thing happen to me, only i was using my brother's vehicle at the time. the only day i was late for class and didn't take off the faceplate was the day it got broken into.

my car was also broken into last year. the driver side window was smashed and access gained to our garage using the garage door opener. thief had broken into 15-20 cars/garages in one night.

BOLT IT DOWN! You won't regret it, I'm regretting not bolting my box down

And if you do bolt it down, bolt the box from the INSIDE, before you put the sub(s) in, that way there's no way for them to get to the bolts without taking the speakers out, the more time it takes to remove stuff, the less likely they are to get away with it

I always take my face plate out too. I usually just throw it under the front seat, but to someone looking in the window, they see the faceplate missing, and decide (hopefully) its not worth taking.

Its happened to me. Once they broke the driver side window and ripped the stereo out.
After a couple of months they came back for the speakers and busted the whole back window in. I have a 240sx hatchback so you might have an idea of how big the glass hatch is. I spent half the day trying to vacuum the small shards that were hidden in the carpet.

When I lived near campus a few years ago our cars would get broken into all the time. Windows smashed, etc. After that I just never locked my doors. I would bring in the faceplate and CDs but there would be nothing else in the car. When there were break ins overnight they left mine alone.

Of course my car wasn't brand new or anything. I didn't have subs/amps or anything like that either, just the CD player.

I have been robbed thrice in the last 6 months.
Some bastard stole all my luggage the night we packed to go to the beach.

Some other loser broke into my dads church and stole $300 of offering money.

Thievery should be punishable by death.

Man, I told you to set up a self destructive boobie trap in your car. When window gets smashed, the car blows up.

I didn't want an alarm because I wasn't planning on keeping this car for long, and my subs weren't bolted down because I was lazy...stupid eh? I won't be making that mistake again, everything's going to be dead solid from now on when I install it.

I also found out they hit 12 other cars last night, which is a friggin lot, I pray these bastards get caught.

This happened to my son-in-law and his insurance company gave him $400 more than the stuff was worth when he filed his claim. He even argued with them about being overpaid and they told him to just keep the money.

Yup, happened to me too at my gated apartment complex where I left my work bag in my backseat. Someone broke my glass and took the bag.

Should have GPS'd it and gotten a long range rifle with a scope on it...

Unfortunately the world is not like a video game so you won't be able to get satisfaction nor will the stolen goods be returned...

The stereo thefts will continue till people stop installing Expensive stuff in a car
where it is easy to get.Car windows break easy.

Put a $200.00 radio in the car, with $100. max speakers.

It will hurt less if/when it happens again.
