Every traffic law is a ticketable offense.. including no blinker usage.

But when's the last time someone got pulled over for doing 2mph over the limit, if you can't see what my point was i'll be sure not to bother responding anymore

Cops were pulling over people for 1mph over on the Fairfax Parkway one day.. they have the right to enforce the law.

I was making a right turn at 25mph, i didn't run through the red light, i did slow down before the turn from 45mph, and saw no one coming, so i made the turn.. in my car 25mph is very normal for making a turn. I don't see what the problem is.

You must be the only one.

In case I'm missing something, my understanding is:

1. The light was red
2. You went through the light at 25mph.

If that's what happened, and you don't see what the problem is, you must be trolling.

Unlike the speeding hyprocrites (*cough* rbloedow *cough*), I actually stop at every red light. You never know when a car may be coming out of nowhere or there might be a pedestrian. I would NEVER roll through one at 25mph... you deserved that ticket so quit bitching.

I LOOKED. Even the cop told me to plead not guilty, yeah, I deserved it pretty bad..
It's always fun watching everyone come out and announce how they're saints.

Actually, that's not "enforcing the law." That's revenue generation. Brand new cars don't have speedometers that are accurate to 1 mph, and neither are the cops' radar guns that accurate. They're just hoping that you'll just pay the ticket and not fight it, because you would win easily for anything 6-7mph over or less.

Running the red light like that is nearly the top killer of young people in the US. I hope you get an enormous fine so you learn your lesson and don't kill someone later. Sure you didn't "think" someone was coming...CRASH. Many times when lights are installed instead of stop signs is because someone died in the past at that intersection doing just what you did - a 25 mph turn thinking that no one was coming.

I was making a right turn, those are legal. the problem was that I didn't come to a complete stop. You act as if i flew through a red light across the intersection without looking. You're making me seem a lot worse than I am to make yourself look better. I think YOU'RE trolling. It's okay, a lot of people do it in ticket threads. I was ranting because I think it was stupid. I'll continue to think it was stupid.

Think? NO one was coming, it's a fact. it's close to midnight with street lights.. no cars, no people, NOTHING. cars don't appear out of thin air.

It was midnight - thus it was dark. Suppose someone just came out of a bright gas station and forgot to turn on their headlights. You didn't think you saw any car. You run the red light. You die. Sure it was probably only 50% your fault since both of you broke a law. But you aren't alive to plead your case.

I got a ticket for 4 mph over once.

25 mph through a red light will probably get you a ticket most places if a cop sees it. Slow down and learn to stop. It's the law. You are talking about something that takes less than a minute of your time and will help you avoid future tickets.

Also, make a note to yourself. Playing it safe in the car to avoid tickets doesn't mean running lights at 25mph.

I say it's midnight not because it's dark, but because there's no one on the road. There's plenty of light to see a car coming. Personally I don't think it's a big deal regardless of what people say. I didn't do it wrecklessly, and I didn't think it was a big deal, I still don't. My MOM got a ticket for the same thing once (she told me after), and she's as careful as they come. 'DON'T EVER SPEED EVER'. etc. I also think you folks are overestimating the speed, i was at 25mph when I made the turn, slowing down to maybe 15-20 and then speeding back up. I didn't fly around it without looking / with no brakes / etc.

After reading that other ticket thread I thought it would be interesting to see people's response if I posted my ticket.

I've got your back only on the fact that it is stupid that the cop gave you a ticket and told you to plead guilty. If he wanted to help you out, he should have given you a warning.

He is trying to generate revenue... (1) by giving you a ticket and (2) when you go to court and pay court fees PLUS a ticket when you are proven guilty, he is helping out the city revenue (his paycheck in an indirect way).

Me? I won't lie. The only time I come to a complete stop during a "turning right on red" situation is when there is traffic. If there is not traffic, I roll through the light at 5-10mph, not 25. I would be screeching tires in my car taking a sharp right turn at 25 mph.

plead not guilty to the speeding ticket.

It won't show up on your record for a while.

Then plead not guilty for the improper passing ? I believe.
You were stupid for not stoppijng.
So what if noone was on the road.

If you work your cards right, the 2nd violation might go to court before the speeding, in which you might be able to get out of if you show a clean record.

I'm not looking for support, just responses in general. I wanted to see what others had to say. The ones that like to preach are the ones that reply.. just like repost nazis.. the ones that don't care / agree / whatever usually don't post.

25 mph is not rolling through a red light, it's blowing it -- even if you're turning right. It's taking the turn as fast as you would have if the light had been green. If you want sympathy or support from people here, it would help if you weren't doing "california stops" in 2nd gear.

I don't know anyone who does those, and I'd be pissed if I was riding in a car and the driver did that. And yet I regularly speed 10-15 over the limit and think nothing's wrong with that. If you're going to california stop, at least go slow enough where you have to drop to 1st.

Why would you be pissed? See, it's all up for debate since you think speeding 10-15 is okay, I think what I did was okay. Also, I was told never to put the car in first unless I came to a complete stop. I've done it before and the car jerks heavily even at 5-10mph. My car handles turns at that speed as if it was 5mph. (in response to your pissed.. assuming pissed for getting thrown around.)

I agree with Vic. A "California Roll" is like 5 MPH. 25 MPH is blowing right through the light. I always stop at reds and stop signs. It annoys me when people roll through them, but for the most part I don't think it's a big deal.
But barrelling through at 25? I don't care how good a driver you THINK you are, or what the conditions were, you could easily have not seen something ahead blowing through that quickly. There is an intersection by me where there is NO STOP OR YIELD, speed limit 25, and I'll tell you on many occasions I have seen near-misses when people pull out of a nearby parking lot and almost get slammed by people coming around the bend doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing.
You just don't know what's ahead.

look left.. look right.. no people no cars for a mile down.. to the right of me is just a half acre patch of grass so theres nowhere a car can pull out of.. closest thing is the gas station on the left corner where someone can come out.. and theres no way theyd catch enough speed to hit me/me hit them. it's an area i'm very familiar with
