You broke a rule, get over it, stop hoping others will bend over backwards for you.

And the cop, and the families of the thousands of people that died last year because someone did just what you explained...

Heck, you were going fast enough that you didn't spot the cop who ended up pulling you over....and that's really all that matters.
That is the key. When approaching an intersection at 25 mph you really cannot see very far. What if someone was barreling down the road at 120 mph? It takes an average of 7 seconds to turn and get up to speed. At 120 mph, you'd have to see a full 1/4 mile to the left to see that car barreling down at you. Could you really see that far to the left (I don't know the answer)?

At 25 mph can you see both directions, all cars, the sidewalks, the corners, animals/people hidden in the grassy field ready to jump onto the street, vehicles exiting that gas station, at the same time watching where you are going? If so, why'd you miss the cop?

I'm just saying that you are putting your life in danger thinking that you can see everything and that no one will be there simply because it is midnight.

Just wanted to say, he didn't exit the gas station until after I made the turn. He was watching me from inside the gas station. But anyway, I still think you guys aren't realizing how i made this turn, i was going the speed limit, and slowing down for the turn, as i was slowing down i'm looking left and right, right for people, left for cars.. get to the corner.. slow down more.. take one last look.. it's something i do everytime i turn, except if there's anythign there i stop, my foot was on the brakes...I slowed down further into the turn aswell).. like i said its very normal to me. i just don't think it's a big deal.. so far no one's thought so either except atot

Did you break traction at all ?

Hitting a turn at 25mph definitely would have made some screechin noise.
Maybe that's why he pulled out.

or

He cuold have thought you were some yuppy in a Boxster S

I think the title of this thread needs to be changed to "I'm STUPID....and I got a ticket for it!" Why are you people continuing to argue with someone who obviously doesn't possess the faculties to grasp that what he did was not only wrong and dangerous, but illegal? Hell, he is an admitted "two-time college dropout", that alone should give you a clue to his mental acuity.

Not really, bashing people really isn't fun but sometimes it is necessary.

edit; didnt answer you, i could see to the left, it's a road i take every day twice a day, i could see half a mile down.

Either way, you didn't spot the cop parked at the gas station, but he spotted you. Perhaps if you had stopped at the light as you were supposed to.

Anyway, it doesn't matter if you do it every day - that doesn't change the law that says you have to stop at a red light before turning on red. I go 35 in a 25 on my way to work every day. I'm not gonna say it's stupid if I get ticketed for it.

I just wanted to point out that if the cop really didn't want to give you a ticket...he wouldn't have.

By advising you to plea "not guilty," he's telling you not to plea bargain when the prosecutor gives you a chance. By not plea bargaining, you risk a heavy fine, court fees, and traffic school (depending on your jurisdiction) if you lose.

I don't think that cop was your friend...

BTW, I also think that you are going to kill somebody someday, or at least do some serious damage to your nice car.

I don't know you at all, but you still deserved it. When I got my speeding ticket, I was speeding. Did it suck? Yeah, but I deserved it. I had no grounds for complaint except to be mad at myself. Am I bothered that you ran a red light at 25mph? Yeah, but what disturbs me more, is your complacent attitude and insistence that you did nothing wrong. YOU BROKE THE FVCKING LAW! I hope to God that you are never driving near me and my family, because you have no regard for the traffic laws that are in place to protect each and every one of us. I could care less if you blew that light at 100mph, it's your attitude and insistence on being innocent of any violation whatsoever that is most troublesome. It's a shame that you will still have your license after this all plays out. People like you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car at all.

calm down. i posted it for discussion, not to look for support. i'm bitter for getting a ticket, 4 years i've had no tickets and then i get 2 in 2 weeks, one for something i've never thought twice about, and no one's said anything about either. i understand it's the law, i understand now that i should be more careful around turns and come to a complete stop, but i still don't agree with getting a ticket. i don't agree that the speed limit on 595 should be 55, i don't agree that, and if i got a ticket for going 65 i'd be bitter. do you always accept it when you do something wrong? do you never nitpick? i find it hard to believe. furthermore, i'm probably a safer driver than most people here, you should calm down and get a grip. if someone gets in your face and says some crap about your family, do you push him or deck him in the face? or do you just walk away. a lot of people will do the former. do they know it's wrong? of course.. they'll also complain about that person later, even though they did something wrong.. you seem to have a big stick up your ass, and of course like some others im going to assume you've never done a single thing wrong in your life.. and if you have, you didn't say one thing about it later either.

Posting on AT about a traffic ticket is never a good idea. You won't gain any support and everyone will assume you're a dumbass.

When I do something wrong I suck it up.
I bitch and nitpick when I DIDN'T do something wrong.

You admit that it was wrong, so why should you not have gotten a ticket for it? I don't follow your "logic."

I think the issue with running red lights (and why I think they're so much worse than speeding) is that the only thing that keeps people stopped at those little lights is the public trust. We stop at our red lights because we want the other guy to stop at his red when our light is green. If we all decided to stop paying attention to the traffic lights, our entire transportation infrastructure would crumble in anarchy. It's not just a simple case of "You Broke the Law!" It's more than that, as this law serves an important purpose in keeping the traffic moving smoothly.
The fact that you see nothing wrong with running a red, mrCide, is disturbing to say the least.

I admit it was wrong in the eyes of the law, I don't think i should of gotten more than a warning for it though. People here think it was wreckless, but I was there, i know the difference between wreckless and safe, and I don't believe it was wreckless.. that's what most people here are bitching about. In my eyes I should of stopped only because I could of avoided a ticket, it was NOT dangerous at all, regardless of what you folks think. No more dangerous than doing it if the light was green, and then it would be legal. If someone was flying down doing 120 they wouldn't of been able to stop if it was a red light anyway. etc.. but I think i'm done with this topic.. I leave work in a few thanks for the dicussion to those of you who didn't make lame comments, don't get too worked up over it either. "blown out of proportion" comes to mind..

right..

You broke the law, you get a ticket. Same goes for me. We are no different in that respect. Do I always accept it when I do something wrong? Absolutely. I take full responsiblity for my actions. I can't blame my parents because "they didn't love me enough", or my school system because "they didn't teach me right from wrong". I do something wrong, I pay the price. I have no one to get at mad at except myself. Then I learn from my mistakes, and move on. I don't make that mistake again. Do I nitpick? Absolutely, because I'm rarely satisfied with things the way they are, they can always be a little better, but that has nothing to do with accepting things I do wrong?

My only problem with you is that you commited a moving violation and feel that you should not get a ticket. That is not only arrogant, but stupid. Had you gotten a ticket for making a turn on a green light, I'd be behind you all the way. Years from now, you'll look back and realize what an arrogant little prick you were. Trust me, I've been there. But I've also matured. Let's hope you do the same and learn fro this little "lesson".

I'm waiting for the explanation you'll give the judge as to why you deserve a warning and not a ticket. What makes you any different than any other person that blows a red light?

Just as bad as the people who swerve left before turning right.
