are the hypocrites coming out?

Well, in this perticular case, I do stop at all red lights and stop signs, even if it's the middle of the night. More on principle that I think it's even more fvcked up to go through them than to speed for example.

I'm not looking for support, just responses in general. I wanted to see what others had to say. The ones that like to preach are the ones that reply.. just like repost nazis.. the ones that don't care / agree / whatever usually don't post.

If that is the criteria you're using, then you blew it. The cop could see you, yet you didn't see him, what does that tell you? You can't see evrything.
Drunk or criminal speeding away with no lights couldve been coming your way.
By your own admission, you do this regularly. You are an a$$hat driver.
Obey the laws or take the bus.

BTW, if they gave tickets for being stupid you would've had another one to deal with.

If you think a ticket ruins your night, wait untill you cause an accident from driving without regard to traffic laws.

Also, I was told never to put the car in first unless I came to a complete stop. I've done it before and the car jerks heavily even at 5-10mph. My car handles turns at that speed as if it was 5mph. (in response to your pissed.. assuming pissed for getting thrown around.)
No, I'd be pissed for blowing through a light. I think you have difficulty in making simple judgements about safe driving. It doesn't take but a second to stop. I might do 100 down the freeway, but I'll always signal and I'll always stop at red lights and stop signs.
And the officer was setting you up. In court, him saying that you "rolled through" is admission of guilt. There are no petty excuses in the eyes of the law. For example, if a cop tickets you for 70 in a 55, and you manage to convince the judge that you were only doing 60... guess what? you're still guilty and you still pay the fine. That's how the law works.
Even the thing about you having a clean record to plead not guilty (which you don't have) is a joke. Judges aren't allowed to see your record before deciding guilt. That could effect their judgement when they are only supposed to rule on the case at hand (and not on your history). They do, however, see your record and examine it quite thoroughly when determining sentencing/fine.

edited for minor typo

A judge will not find someone guilty if they believe that he was only doing 60 in 55mph zone
Your kidding, right? If you're in front of a judge and you admit to exceeding the speed limit and the ticket is for speeding, you going DOWN! He may reduce the ticket to some lower amount, but there's no expectation of a finding of innocent with an admission of guilt. The judge could be sanctioned if he were to make that a policy.

True, there might be a lot of hypocrites in this thread - I know I'm one when I say "dont speed" in speeding ticket threads, but then again you don't see them complaining when they get caught. You were ignorant of the law and you got busted; stop whining.

I make a very good show of stopping, whether it be in my car or an 80,000 pound Semi. It is a much larger PITA to get that truck rolling again, but a Stupid ticket could end my career.

pay the fine

go to driving school like Defensive Driving, drivers ed etc.

some Cities/States have a driving school where you can get some points deducted,if you have any

pay attention..!

Red Lights mean Stop.

Stop sign means Stop

Yield sign means Slow down,Look for other traffic, and if there is any Stop.

Speed Limit 65 means,uh NOT 80..

Please; drive careful, there may be someone on the way home who is overtired,or drunk,or in a bigger hurry, and they may hit You,so try to look out for the Other person, too.

Common sense never hurts.

Helps that you don't like me / are bitter towards me though

I don't know you at all, but you still deserved it. When I got my speeding ticket, I was speeding. Did it suck? Yeah, but I deserved it. I had no frounds for complaint except to be mad at myself. Am I bothered that you ran a red light at 25mph? Yeah, but what disturbs me more, is your complacent attitude and insistence that you did nothing wrong. YOU BROKE THE FVCKING LAW! I hope to God that you are never driving near me and my family, because you have no regard for the traffic laws that are in place to protect each and every one of us. I could care less if you blew that light at 100mph, it's your attitude and insistence on being innocent of any violation whatsoever that is most troublesome. It's a shame that you will still have your license after this all plays out. People like you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car at all.

calm down. i posted it for discussion, not to look for support. i'm bitter for getting a ticket, 4 years i've had no tickets and then i get 2 in 2 weeks, one for something i've never thought twice about, and no one's said anything about either. i understand it's the law, i understand now that i should be more careful around turns and come to a complete stop, but i still don't agree with getting a ticket. i don't agree that the speed limit on 595 should be 55, i don't agree that, and if i got a ticket for going 65 i'd be bitter. do you always accept it when you do something wrong? do you never nitpick? i find it hard to believe. furthermore, i'm probably a safer driver than most people here, you should calm down and get a grip. if someone gets in your face and says some crap about your family, do you push him or deck him in the face? or do you just walk away. a lot of people will do the former. do they know it's wrong? of course.. they'll also complain about that person later, even though they did something wrong.. you seem to have a big stick up your ass, and of course like some others im going to assume you've never done a single thing wrong in your life.. and if you have, you didn't say one thing about it later either.

right..

No tickets in 4 years... how about any warnings?

You made a turn at a red light going 25 mph? That's a bit fast.

I have certainly rolled through plenty of stop signs, most in residential neighborhoods (as in, did not come to a complete stop) but typically a red light is a different story. If you have a red light, someone else has a green, and you want to pay a little attention to that.

And no I'm not being a hypocrite. I do stupid things all the time and have some tickets to prove it. However, if you were actually doing 25 when you made the turn.. I wouldn't call that an effort at stopping. 5 mph, sure, you slowed down significantly and then turned. 10 mph, well, that's pushing it, but still ok. 25 - I don't care what kind of car you drive, that's not safe, you didn't stop, and that's a fair ticket.

Edit: Amusingly, I got pulled over for rolling through a stop sign once. The cop pulled me over about a mile down the road, and was like "do you know why I pulled you over?" and I was just baflled, I said "No I really don't have any idea, I don't think I did ANYTHING wrong and I just got in my car a minute ago?" and he said "you rolled through that stop sign back there without stopping..." and I was like "I did? what stop sign?" and when he told me, I was completely puzzeled... it was at a junction (almost like an onramp) that usually has unbelievable traffic all the time... so you're always sitting there for 30-60-90 seconds before you can go - there's just no way around it... I just happened to pull up and there was absolutely zero traffic in sight, so I just went. I had always assumed it was a yield sign, and not a stop sign - because I was always "limited" by the traffic, not the sign.

dude...no one coming or not, you should've stopped anyway. I was once in a similar situation...it was in a wooded area and I'm lucky I stopped, because a coupla seconds after I pulled up to the light, a guy in a corvette (i think?) came tearing down the intersecting road with no lights on. If I'd gone through, it woulda been ugly...

I agree, it is stupid. However, it is breaking the law. It's not even a gray area. Right on red after stop PERIOD. It sucks but what are u gonna do.

was making a right turn, those are legal. the problem was that I didn't come to a complete stop. You act as if i flew through a red light across the intersection without looking. You're making me seem a lot worse than I am to make yourself look better. I think YOU'RE trolling. It's okay, a lot of people do it in ticket threads. I was ranting because I think it was stupid. I'll continue to think it was stupid.

yeah, 25MPH is just shy to coming to complete stop.
you definately deserved the ticket.

Sure most of us do a rolling stop but come on, 25mph isn't even remotely close to a stop heh. If you seriously didn't know you had to STOP at a RED light before making a right turn, then the cop just did you (and everyone else) a HUGE favor.

I view all traffic signs like they are suggestions. Stop signs are discretionary, traffic coming, wait for them to pass, if no traffic is coming, then treat it like a yield sign. Speed limit signs, well see what others are doing, and do the same.

kind of my look on it. didn't know this thread was still getting replies.. but yeah ive been stopping at every light (that's the point right? like i said no one ever said anything about it.. and no ive never gotten any warnings).

PS: for you people still telling me 25mph is too fast to take a turn you're insane, i take every right turn i have right of way at about 20-25mph, and anything slower than that and id get people honking at me. how slow do you all turn when making regular right turns? are you those people that cause all of traffic to come to a halt when making a turn with no turning lane? oi... ive made it a point to check my speedo at several turns since this thread and i average 20-25mph.

...Or the people who make left turns from the right lane.
...anywho...

The way I see it, failure to stop at a stop sign or traffic signal is just that. It doesn't matter if you were making a right turn or going straight through an intersection; running a red or rolling a red is still running a red.

I've seen people get a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign because they were "creeping" up to see the cross traffic befor they turn; they may have stopped, but not at the stop sign.

I don't see where a simple warning would ever be appropiate to give to somone who ran a stop sign or a red.

I stop at every sign, right turn or not. It's just good habit, and the law. There is a light right outside my street that stays red for ages even if there is no crosstraffic going on the green. Sure, I could run the red because I see no cars coming, but I don't. I have witnessed people who have though.
