I have had my bike on craigslist, I am looking for trading for a Wrangler or 66-77 Bronco. This guy has contacted me and seems interested.

I just copied this from his email

"its a 73 with a 351w np435/np205 and a dana 60/ sterling 10.25

basically an entire early 90s f350 powertrain in it.

has new 37x12.50x17 tires and wheels. around 5.5s" of custom lift and a very strong/new winch.

custom radiator and hydroboost brakes.

its pretty dirty. Keeps raining on my days off. Murphys law i guess...

the tube doors are on pins so they lift off. it drives pretty good. better than you would think. the steering is brand new gm one ton stuff.

"

I am pretty tempted, what do you guys think? I have an 03 Fatboy, these Broncos go for a nice premium around here

if the truck is well built, it sounds like a good trade. I would love to have that drivetrain in my 72 wagoner.

According to NADA blue book a 1973 Ford Bronco in the condition you state is about $3500 to $4000, but of course this is just an arm chair estimate.

A 2003 Harley FLSTFI Fat Boy currently Blue Books for around $5000 to $6000. Again, just an arm chair estimate.

Before you can say if this is a good deal or not, you have to assign them a dollar amount otherwise, you let personal feelings get involved. Keep it business.

When trading always assign a dollar amount to what you have and what you are trading for.

my first instinct is to keep the fatboy.

he makes seem like a good trade .. but you really need to look under the hood.

i love old broncos! There are still plenty on the road.

I wouldn't pay $5k for that thing though...maybe $1k if it runs.

I would have more fun with the bronco. It looks pretty good actually. (imgur is blocked at work) The axles are worth 2k by themselves. add the tires and wheels, other odds and ends and you get to way more than 5k. if the suspension workes correctly, it's worth 5k all day.

herm, I agree. The winch, tires, wheels, and running gear are worth good money. Even if it doesn't run its worth much more than people are giving it credit for.

I see one riveted/screwed patch panel in the trans tunnel. Wonder what else there. Those broncos were notorious for rust.

Here in Los Angeles. They would ask $20k for that bronco.... lol

Yea, that Bronco could easily fetch 10k here in Houston also.
If I were a bettin' man, I bet he'd sell it outright to you for like $4k. Buy it, and flip it. Any city-slicker/wannabe hick will snatch that Bronco up for easily double that price you paid.

Seems to me he built the project and is now bored with it. Knew someone with a Jeep before that did the same thing.

Is that thing even road legal ? i don't see an inspection sticker on the windshield. Would be fun as hell to ride around my ride areas, as I have over 10,000 acres 1.5 hrs north of me to get it good and muddy.

Some states do not require inspections, mine did away with them probably 15-20 years ago

IMO Dollars on this trade seem fine. You couldn't get close to building that truck for $5k. The tires and wheels alone are $1500-$2000.
