GOD! Virginia Tech or VT! Dammit!

You think that's bad. I have heard people call Georgia Tech.... Georgia Tech University. I just about wanted to slit their throats in their sleep for that.

Nontheless, congratulations.

It's a pretty decent university with a good engineering program. My advice, as many people around here say, get a lot of internships and work experience related to your field while in college.

Congratulations and Godd luck!

As far as top colleges in the country, Virginia Tech is ranked 78th school Overall.

As far as Engineering, it is ranked 14th (I was close in my estimate).

And if we're going to be name snobs, I demand you all call it by the original title: Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
For awhile they had an A&M in there as well.

(91 grad in A.E., M.S. in 93)

I know. Right now i plan on doing this:

Double Major in Computer Engineering and Business Administration with a focus (I guess that means what you want to study within those fields) on Micro Processor architecture.

THe only thing is, i am still unsure that is exactly what i am looking for (EE is a possibility also).

VT is pretty easy to get into, in state. Easier than JMU. Out of state, it's probably an accomplishment.

easy to get in, hard to stay in. (unless you're a sociology major like my roommate.)

jesus, i hate the people who started this va tech crap. DAMN YOU ESPN!

Ok, way to ruin the spirit. First off, i dont call it "VA" tech. I say Virginia, however when typing in all caps VA as an abreviation from Virginia seems like it works.

Congrats. Maybe you can help your football team from choking against Miami and Florida St.

Haha, as a spectator yeah. Maybe if i keep at it I can manage to play some baseball.

hope you did choose it for the right reasons, however!

Well i originally, when i was little, wanted to go to Penn State University. I changed as i knew Tech had a better engineering program. So i visited an Open House and absolutely loved the campus and the city.

I would like to say:

Thank You soo much to all the ATers who answered my painful College Questions, and helped me with the Application process. It has truly paid off!!

-Kevin

kinda the same thing with me. i had always planned on psu (im from pa.), but decided on virginia tech instead.

most of the dorms are decent, unless you're a cadet, then they stick you in the ghetto. i live in thomas hall (before is was cadet housing) my freshman year, which was directly across from the coal power plant. everything was covered in black dust and the f'n bulldozer woke me up at 4am every morning moving coal.

you should have fun though, its a great place to go to school, especially if you like the outdoors. there are some greeeat mountain biking trails close to campus and some cool caves to explore (as long as you dont get caught).

anyhow, have fun and congrats.

Congratulations!! I'd regretably finishing up my 2nd to last semester. I have enjoyed 3.5 years down here in "the burg" so far and have not regreted my decision to attend here for one second! Maybe by the time you can move off Shenandoah Circle will be in much better shape than it is currently. Trust me...Beating Miami in 2003 was THE best game ever! while losing to Pitt in a few weeks later was the coldest I have ever been, what a disaster, you'll learn that VT is a great school and that you will LOVE living in the middle of nowhere!

Listen to all the other Fighting Gobblers that World Regions is a must take class! That class convinced me to go to India last winter and miss a paid trip to New Orleans! If you play an instrument, try out for the Marching Virignians, and you will never regret it...been to nearly every game in the past two years!

If you have any questions about the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, please feel free to send me an pm!

Too bad Sharkey's went down the tube when they move to where Woody's used to be. No more pool tables, no more wall murals and way too much wasted space. Hokie House is where its at, 22 oz of any on tap beer for a mere $2.50 during happy hour!

The Virginia Tech College of Engineering, which traditionally is ranked by the survey among the top 20 of all accredited engineering schools in the nation that offer doctorates, rose in the rankings from 19th a year ago to 14th this year, tied with the engineering colleges at Johns Hopkins University, Northwestern University, and Texas A&M University.

Among undergraduate business programs, Virginia Tech?s Pamplin College of Business is ranked 40th overall along with six other schools, and 24th among those at public universities. Last year, the college was 38th overall and 23rd among public institutions.

Both the Business and Engineering programs at VT are wonderful. All my roommates where engineers. I was business. Engineering takes a lot of time up. Just warning when your thinking of a double major.

VPISU for the win!!!!!!!
