not gonna let that shit touch my eyes. But I am interested in the embedded lens surgery thing. I forget what is called.

Uh, I'd much rather get lasik then deal with embedded lenses.

Lasik fixes shit and is a well refined procedure. Embedded lenses don't fix anything. It's just a bandaid and far more likely to cause complications, imho.

i know you're being sarcastic with your numbers, but i'm pretty sure the failure rate is actually a lot closer to the former than the latter.

probably closer to 1e-6 for serious problems, but the little nagging problems seem to be more prevalent than even 1e-2.

i know 4 people who have had it done. 2 say they'd do it again in a heartbeat and 2 say they would not have done it because of halo effect, or because they ended up needing glasses again anyway.

I had mine done about 10-12 years ago. Cost about 2k in Manhattan NYC. They gave me something that starts with an A. I forgot the name but it was stronger than Xanax and made me high. Lol.

I was shitting my undies when he cut the flap and everything went fuzzy like an old analog TV. They also gave me a plush toy to hold onto. I always laugh at that. The assistant was so fucking hot it was ridiculous.

Took a car service home to NJ. Looked in my little release kit they gave me and two more of those pills was in there. Took one and passed the hell out and woke up the next morning and I could read my alarm clock. I remember that so distinctly because it was like someone turned the contrast way up on my vision.

That was one of the most incredible events in my life and I'll never forget that experience.

I think it was Valium they gave me. In any case it was strong and put me in a cloud like mood for several hours.

Yeah.....no. I'm happy with my glasses. They don't bother me and I've been wearing them 20 years so they are part of my "look" now. My kids say I look weird without them.

Some people look cool with glasses. I definitely don't. My head is too wide. Lol

I was kind of the same way. I put up with glasses for 10ish years, then it started to get to me. Constantly having to deal with smudges, or specs in the lenses, or worse of all: reflections of light behind me. Once you notice these tings, you can't unnotice. That and the style of glasses keeps changing and making the lenses smaller and smaller, which was like tunnel vision. I kept trying different kinds of lenses and coatings but it cost me a few hundred bucks each time and none were any better. I was at a point of going insane and the idea of LASIK was always on the back of my mind but I was always too chicken. The thought of contacts just made me cringe, I rather go through a one time surgery than deal with contacts every day. Then I finally just got the courage and went for LASIK So glad I did.

But yeah anything with eyes is always scary. The LASIK scene in final destination STILL makes me cringe.

My hold up is reported side effects of night vision. Between reduced vision at night to halos has me terrified of it. With my job it is quite literally life and death.

honestly i have no halos, but the starburst effects do bother me at night. once i'm driving for a while at night they go away for the most part.

My right eye is about twice as bad as my left (due to astigmatism). I think I'd have the worst eye done first, then wait six months, and have the other done.

I was worried about that too, but honestly it's not that bad, and it sure beats glasses and all the reflections and glare and crap that you get with them. I still get star bursts from head lights at night though, but I try to avoid driving at night anyway, too many assholes with HID lights now days, even before LASIK driving at night was not pleasant. I don't really have a choice in winter though, it's practically always night. But in summer I don't have to drive at night at all, or at least very rarely. When I got the surgery done it was in summer so by the time it started getting dark early the halos were not as bad.

I work two weeks rotations of days and nights so don't have a choice. I wear contacts so don't get the reflections. Stars and halos would be a big issue for me.

Is this the one where they slice open the front of your eye? Are you conscious while they do that?
